  1. The issue is that you see the ability to make the needed throws. And then you see interceptions like he threw at the end of the game or you see balls all over the place in other games. It's just crazy to me how much he can change from game to game in his ability to spot a football.
  2. Hellickson accepted.
  3. I had a convo with a friend from South Dakota State's coaching staff who watched the game after their rivalry game win, and he had the observation that Leidner is a guy with all the tools you could ever want in a QB. His prediction was that Leidner is in a QB competition for someone in the NFL within 5 years. He's run a pro system as well, so he'll take less time to adapt to the pros, helping his development. That's the thing that makes me the most upset. I would wonder if the coaching he's received is as much behind his issues as Leidner himself.
  4. That was a Laker team playing very well that the Wolves destroyed tonight. Very impressive win.
  5. I'm not saying abolish it, but tying it to Congressional representatives is nuts. If South Dakota were down to 3 people living in the entire state, all 3 would have a position in Congress as every state is guaranteed 3 representatives, and therefore 3 electors. Take out the Senate tie, and then it would be still representative. Every state is guaranteed at least one elector, and you'd eliminate the imbalance of rural vs. urban right now.
  6. Multiple states have enacted legislation that triggers at 200 electoral votes going by popular vote that their state's electoral votes would go with the winner of the national popular vote, not the way their state voted. I do think that would add some checks and balances into it. (It's more nuanced than that, and I've been up all night with a teething baby, so forgive me for not looking up the link). I believe the total electoral votes in states with this legislation passed now is roughly 150, so another 50 need to be found for it to trigger in every election. The thing on the electoral college that is just beyond me is how electors are assigned. A vote in Wyoming is worth more than anywhere else in the country due to the ratio of eligible voters to electors in Wyoming. If you were to put electors based on the same formula as the House of Representatives, Trump would not be the president currently. Instead, every vote in California is worth about 1/7th of a Wyoming vote. I just don't see how that makes any sense. I live in a small state, and in no way do I want my state's voice not heard, but I believe it should be heard in an equitable way to the amount of persons that are contributing to the tax base of the country.
  7. Lakers have been playing very, very well. I wouldn't throw shade over a loss to them.
  8. Incredible the poor reviews that Gurriel has had come out. I'm not sure he'll make my Blue Jays top 10...
  9. I called this, but we'll see if the second piece comes through. I stated on Braves forums that the Braves were one of few teams that had the pieces to pursue Sale, Quintana, or Archer. My thought was that they would protect giving up their younger arms by signing a couple of vet inning-eater arms and then trading away two of guys like Matt Wisler/Aaron Blair/Rob Whalen/John Gant/Tyrell Jenkins/Lucas Sims/Sean Newcomb who are at AA or higher as part of a deal to acquire a front of the rotation guy. Then in 2018, those two older arms are gone and the younger guys can ease into a rotation that's led by Julio Teheran, Mike Foltynewicz, and the new acquisition...
  10. What I posted on Facebook today:
  11. One thing I'm enjoying about working from home....
  12. No, but only because we haven't tried (and my wife could seriously eat a room full of popcorn).
  13. This is the one my wife and I got for our wedding, along with about six different types of popcorn. We've still got popcorn left, and that popper gets used very frequently. Greatest smell ever!! For about $75, you'd have a popper and lots of popcorn, oil, and that special coconut butter flavoring that makes it so tasty! https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/nostalgia-trade-electrics-39-50s-style-stir-popper/1040487939?Keyword=popcorn
  14. Buy a popper for the office. You will be a hero among men, plus the smell of popcorn will be ever present. Also, when you buy a popcorn maker, it's surprising how the corporate overlords that rule us all suddenly decide a few bucks worth of oil and popping corn is an expense that they're willing to pay for.
  15. I really believe the next thing is the flattening of the international market. No more Latin (except Cuba) in one bowl, Japan in another bowl, Europe/Australia/Middle East in another bowl. The way major league talent will become flattened, and I think it will be better all around for the game, though I do also believe it will be one of those things where the ratios of American-born MLB players to foreign-born players will sway in ways that has national writers bringing out stories about "is baseball failing in the US". On that note, I have seen it locally, and I have heard it in other areas of the country, but I think the other big thing will be a resurgence in baseball's role in the lives of the generation of youth right now. As my wife and I look to adopt, I'm amazed how many children of minority list baseball as one of their favorite things to do (and not just the boys). I know the little league around here has numbers by percentage of youth involvement not seen since I was a little guy in the late 80s, and that could be huge for the game going forward.
  16. I have not, but my wife and I just had the conversation of our summer trip in 2017 as I'd like to hit up minor league stadiums. The Braves no longer have a Carolina League team, but I've been told very good things about the stadiums in that league in general.
  17. So my take on protesting is this... For at least two generations, Americans have sat back and taken what the government gave them. They've trusted the government to take care of them and the elected representatives that they put in office to make the best decisions for them. That has been very obviously changing in the last decade, and drastically so in the last few years, which is a lot of what led to the movement that spiked Trump and Sanders in primary season within their own parties. Now Trump gets elected with a "first 100 days" platform that drastically scares minorities, women, and LGBTQ. There are many who are incredibly worried for themselves and/or their good friends who identify in those groups, and they want to make this known. Right now, protest is the way they know. Violent protest is absolutely bull and shouldn't be acceptable at all, but the interviews initially out of Seattle and Chicago were from people who were protesting the things in Trumps 100 days policies, and that's a legitimate reason to protest. Rather than "just" protesting, hopefully those same people find the next level, which is getting themselves involved with their local government, state government, and so on as a powerful voice. America lost the "by the people" part long ago, and hopefully this can be a call to bring it back...
  18. I got some stew meat today as I had a desire for some beef stew. Basic recipe - stew meat of preference (pork, chicken, beef, turkey, whatever), onion soup mix packet or two (depending on size of your slow cooker), tons of veggies, mushrooms. Many prefer to have cream of mushroom soup, though it's not my personal preference. Lots of potatoes, carrots, celery, onions, garlic, and mushrooms for mine. I usually get about 6-7 meals worth out of one slow cooker.
  19. Notice they're near the bottom of that group of the standings, however, in attempts per game. When you're shooting well from outside, you'd think you should take MORE threes...
  20. Cookie monster is back to eating cookies.
  21. It linked when reposting on Facebook, but not here. It's a Facebook post from a gal in Delaware that I caught from Shaun King's time line. The thread stated that security cameras were being used to find information on these perpetrators, so it's an issue being looked into by police. I don't honestly have a link beyond that.
  22. Day 1: Ashley Boyer feeling angry. 6 hrs · Just experienced one of the WORST THINGS in my entire life!!! While pumping gas, I had a vehicle pull up beside me...out jumps 4 males...all of whom are Caucasian...they then proceed to talk about the election and how they're glad they won't have to deal with niggers much longer...now me being by myself, I just kept quiet...until one walked over to me...and said, "how scared are u, u black bitch??? I should just kill u right now...you're a waste of air!" Still, I said nun...I kept my head down...he then proceeds to say, "what, are u deaf or something u nigger??" Then another guy steps out and shows me his firearm...he says, "you're lucky there's witnesses or else I'd shoot u right here"...by now there's tears...full blown tears...they leave...I have called the police, but I am shaken...upset...and confused...is this what America is going to be like from here on out??!!
  23. This was a very solid column: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/09/opinion/were-near-the-breaking-point.html?smid=fb-share
  24. I was impressed with his poise last night. He doesn't bring a major threat to score, but he seemed to have a presence in the offense that allowed for it to run more smooth with multiple passes to a wide open clean shot from one of the best shooters, even when he had guys like Shabazz and Aldridge running with him along with Wiggins and Towns.
  25. The only thing they can obstruct (thankfully) is the deluge of constitutional changes that Trump had in his "first 100 days" plans.
