  1. Finished that one last week. Well worth the watch.
  2. This Rangers thing is going to get ugly in a hurry: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sources-rangers-prospects-questioned-for-allegedly-sexually-hazing-underage-teammate-210055315.html This is what is such a mess in the Dominican. I was talking with a former Angels front office guy, and he talked about working in the Dominican scouting, and he was told by a player that the three oldest teammates on the team he played on to prepare for his showcase forced any new player on the team to perform oral sex on them on their first day on the team. These were guys who were 19-20 forcing boys who were 13-15 to perform sexual acts. Is there any question we need to clean things up in Latin America?!
  3. If it means that they clean up the dealings in Latin America, I'll take a draft every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
  4. It came up right away on the far left sort of sites, but then it's been shown more and more, that's all... I'm not sure that there's anything to it, but it does look off for sure.
  5. Let's be real here. The reason they're having major kick back in the Dominican and such places right now has nothing to do with the actual draft itself. It's that implementing a draft would clean up what is one of the dirtiest, most underhanded ways, horrible ways that baseball acquires and develops talent. We shriek in horror at the recent Texas Rangers Dominican incident, but those in the game would tell you that is a very, very common occurrence in Latin America, and especially so in the Dominican, and not just with player-on-player. Trainers and coaches have been convicted after years and years of churning out players for major league baseball while also sexually abusing the teenage boys in their stead, and while many times people within the game knew about it, no one did a thing. I couldn't care less how the talent is acquired in Latin America. The system drastically needs to be cleaned up.
  6. Man, the last 3 episodes have been tremendous.
  7. Eric Byrnes did a piece on Real Sports on the automated umps thing.
  8. I will say that as long as I have Bartolo Colon on my favorite team, I want no DH!
  9. Not true in all of the minors.
  10. Except teams are still highly focused on velocity, and as we've seen with the spike in TOS, that "on-field" damage they're doing every pitch to their pitchers is much worse than anything they could do on the base paths. The argument would hold weight if days on the DL for non-pitching, hitting/running-related injuries were ever even 10% of the total DL time that pitchers spend, but they've never come close. It's just that people remember those more than a torn labrum or Tommy John surgery.
  11. I'd argue re: better, but two sets of rules now that interleague is part of daily life is not a feasible thing, and no way you're getting that cat back into the box at this point with the player's union.
  12. We had a "spirited" discussion on this board about how west coast time was killing everyone's enjoyment of the game. Imagine if local normal times for games were played in Japan, Australia, etc...
  13. So then, why not post it on the Twins board if it's Twins related??
  14. And I can suggest early in the offseason as I do every year, that folks attempt to discuss non-Twins related stuff in one spot so as to participate in the general discussion going on already rather than expecting others to participate in their specific discussion. It's certainly not disturbing anyone by any means for me to post that link.
  15. http://twinsdaily.com/topic/24054-2016-2017-mlb-off-season-thread/
  16. I suppose it depends on who you talk with, but I didn't have to change my top 10 for the Astros system after the trade, and I talked with a lot of people in baseball about each system, so this was not just my viewing of them that made this opinion.
  17. Really? Compared to what they were asking the Braves, they settled hard, paying significant salary and getting two guys not in their top 10.
  18. http://twinsdaily.com/topic/24054-2016-2017-mlb-off-season-thread/
  19. Not all that strange. The guys who have ballots seldom have them still on the last day of the season from the ones I've talked to. I know within the IBWAA there were guys posting their ballot two days after the ballot came out (something like 2 weeks ahead of the end of the season).
  20. My brother's response on Twitter was the picture from Office Space with the "What, exactly, would you say you do here?" line.
  21. And it begins... Patricia ZengerleVerified account ‏@ReutersZengerle Just called a Republican congressional office I deal with often and was told the press relations staff is no longer speaking to reporters. User Actions Follow Burgess EverettVerified account ‏@burgessev .@SenatorBurr is walking around with photos of reporters he won't talk to. I'm on it.
  22. Completely agree on the politics end of thing. I remember a day when it was actually tough to decide and interesting to review my ballot before submitting to count which direction I voted each election. It's not hard to figure out anymore...
  23. So one thing I heard this last week that I liked was a "winner take all" if a state is over X-amount of votes and then a split according to votes if not. For instance, in South Dakota, there are three electoral votes. 52% vote for Trump, 44% for Clinton, and 4% other, in my hypothetical. Trump would get 2, Hillary would get 1. That same vote is something like 61% or 66%, Trump takes all three.
  24. Atlanta Braves, 1991 World Series Champions!! Yay!!
  25. So VICE news pointed out something ironic to me... Hillary had her campaign night gathering in a place that had a glass ceiling. You cannot make that up.
