  1. As a Braves fan, sorry. I announced my resignation to my Tomahawk Take staff the day Colon was DFA'd. I started at Puckett's Pond the day he was officially released. I end my first week with the Pond with him signing. Lovely. LOL. He's been toast all year. I had the misfortune of watching him befuddle hitters often the last few years, but he's not the same guy this year. His movement isn't the same, he's actually struggling with consistency in his simple delivery, which is certainly adding to the walks.
  2. Okay, home park. Big difference. The LEAGUE is incredibly pitcher friendly.
  3. Sorry about that.
  4. In the offseason, I put out an article about the different ranking sites. I will always advocate for a balance and breadth, reading across a number of them, specifically ones intentionally that target different things. However, one not mentioned here yet that people should really get on board with more is 2080. They have tremendous coverage, and though they're still getting off the ground, the quality of staff they have there is really unmatched anywhere else, and that includes BA.
  5. Yet, the Braves people laugh about the MLB PIpeline coverage of their system because it's so far off base and out of touch with what's going on in their offices. A guy that was released was still ranked in the top 30 by Pipeline, and this isn't a weak system where a back end top 30 guy is release fodder normally. It's a list that Sickels started with over 60 names that same year before he trimmed down to his top 20.
  6. The Southern League is hitter friendly? That'd be a first....
  7. He knows his audience. I'd read 300 if he put it up. Most of the people on that site would as well, I'm sure!
  8. So, any idea on Yeltsin Encarnacion? 19 in DSL, but shown good walk rates previously. This year, he's hitting .388/.508/.653 with 4 triples and an 11/3 BB/K ratio. Scouting the stat line so far as I really don't have anyone I keep in touch with that works Twins DSL, so until they play the Braves I won't hear back on him. Any idea before then on him??
  9. Definitely, and for good reason. I had him up to the top 30 after seeing him as he built control of his ridiculous arsenal as the 2016 season wore on.
  10. That's why I went 125 this spring. I got to 100 and had quite a few I felt were still worthy, so I chose to just add another 25. There is a common issue with tiers bunching up around the 100 mark.
  11. Cease is also a guy who runs it up to triple digits and is one of the nicest kids I've covered. You don't want to let that "good guy" stuff set your ranking, but it can push a guy a bit for sure.
  12. Alvarez had some stuff go on this offseason personally that took him away from baseball, left him quite out of shape when he arrived in camp, and he's not been 100% in his health yet.
  13. I cannot imagine you'd have to. There is such intrigue in the low-level guys in the Twins org throughout the game that I would imagine they could intrigue someone.
  14. My first "longer" piece with Puckett's Pond explored the trade deadline and similarities with a previous version of the Twins and how they approached the deadline: http://puckettspond.com/2017/07/05/minnesota-twins-can-satisfy-2017-long-term/
  15. When your international tour brings you through podunk SoDak, let me know, I'd love to catch ya!
  16. My first article for Puckett's Pond came out today. This is something I hope to have out every morning, so check back for something similar each morning! http://puckettspond.com/2017/07/03/minnesota-twins-daily-dip-july-3rd/
  17. The post is on a Braves site, but this involves a Twins site, so I'll let our Twins Daily overlords decide if it belongs here or in the Twins section. I posted my monthly AQA on the Braves minors yesterday, except this one had a fairly big announcement as far as my readers were concerned: http://tomahawktake.com/2017/06/30/atlanta-braves-minor-league-questions-asked-june-edition-big-announcement/ I'm going to be starting with Puckett's Pond as the co-editor starting July 2nd, so I'm currently writing up my last article for Tomahawk Take. I've been chatting with some of the members of Twins Daily on various forums for nearly 20 years at this point, and the Twins have always been my "AL team". I hope a number of you will come check things out over there as we get going, and feel free to get in touch with me if you do have an itch to write over there as well! Certainly, I'm not by any means going to attempt to set up Puckett's Pond as a competitor with TD or any of the other Twins blogs out there. Frankly, I think the better content we get going on all sites on Twins coverage, the better for fans all around!
  18. Certainly not seeing unification there...
  19. I just don't like getting wet inside a closed-roof stadium. The whole point of a closed roof is to not let water get through, not to focus it more on specific saps that happen to sit under a seam in the roof. The Braves protested a game already this year due to water drops hitting on the pitcher's mound. The Braves won the game, but you have to make an official protest for the league to force the team (and owner) to do something to the stadium or risk forfeiting future games featuring the same issue. Having water fall onto the pitcher's mound during a game in a closed stadium is not okay.
  20. I loved the views with PNC in Pittsburgh. That, and the walking area within the stadium easily has it #1 for me, though I've not been to a ballpark west of Coors - yet.
  21. Heck, if people even read the news article rather than just the headline, it'd make a world of difference in the general public's understanding. Great reporting is often lost to a poor headline.
  22. The Ringer's baseball podcast had a great interview specifically about Urias's shoulder. Very good discussion with one of the better surgeons you could ask to hear from...
  23. Being in South Dakota, I've only been to Turner once myself, though covering the team, I've had phone and email conversations with team officials about the new park and am part of a collection of fan forums where I've read reviews (positive, neutral, and some critical) of the new park.
  24. That latter point is why Citi Field ranked very well with our bus tour from our honeymoon, but the rain really hurt Miller in the overall rankings. I found Progressive to have very good assistance services and concourses as well.
  25. They have, though. Attendance is quite positive. Turner was forced on the team by the Olympics, so a lot of things they wanted weren't in the stadium, specifically in the area around the stadium. I think the Braves would still be there if the city of Atlanta had invested into the area around the stadium some.
