  1. Grand Slam for Garcia tonight against the MLB's ERA leader coming into the night.
  2. Except that'd be very, very odd by Coppy, who is incredibly tight-lipped about any discussions, as is anyone in the org as far as names.
  3. LOL...okay, that's not mine. The guy who wrote the article at Talking Chop got a lot of info from me and a number of the posters follow me on Twitter and were asking away last night, but that one is not mine. I also love the "humble brag" line...
  4. Part of the issue is that Garcia's medical file was going to be crud. That was well known. He's injured his shoulder, neck, back, and pretty much everything involved in the pitching motion.
  5. If I knew this, I'd be making the little bucks in a front office.
  6. Before the trade, all three were top 30 guys.
  7. Yeah, I don't know. I know Coppy won't let out any player that he is targeting, so any speculation would be just knowing guys they've liked in the past.
  8. Sounds like the Twins were going to take on all of it and want the Braves to take on roughly 55% of the remaining salary now based on medicals.
  9. It all depends on the money. I'd say the range of Garver, Thorpe, Wade, Graterol would be a feasible expectation to be included. The intriguing names would be Blankenhorn or Baddoo. Baddoo's a Georgia guy who could be of interest and fits the high-ceiling profile in the low-minors that the team has in position players. If the Twins are eating all funds, I'd wager it's a minor league reliever type, like a Jake Reed/Andrew Vazquez/etc. along with a rookie ball guy from the Braves.
  10. Not what is coming out of Atlanta at all. Sounds like Twins had concerns with medicals and changed previous agreed-on $ amounts, so prospect wasn't appropriate in the Braves' eyes anymore in that view. That's where the deal is from guys I have talked with.
  11. They have a collection of hitters. Their top 3 prospects in many lists right now will be hitters right now in Acuna, Albies, and Maitan. I put up a midseason top 50 before I left Tomahawk Take, and 30 of the 50 were hitters.
  12. Why not? They drafted a pitcher this year. They have acquired a pitcher in nearly every trade made in the last offseason, even after having tremendous depth in pitching.
  13. Outfield is the deepest position in the organization. A top 30 does not indicate the depth of an organization...
  14. One of which isn't desirable to the Braves, one of which isn't in the org anymore.
  15. Which chat site...because that very well could have been me as the "source" because the Braves have been big fans of Garver for a while.
  16. I'd wager more of a high-ceiling, low-floor type. A guy with a ton of risk, but still plenty of ceiling.
  17. They just averaged 40,000 for their first two series after the All-Star break, including two day games, one of them during a weekday. Fans must hate them.
  18. And Garcia did his usual throwing tonight. That means minimal. The deal wasn't final, so players played in their games. A few nights ago Todd Frazier played in a game while we all knew he'd been part of a trade but didn't know the trade value. Likewise, Tyler Clippard was warming up even after it was known that he was part of the deal. Until the deal is official, the player can still be used by his current team.
  19. Reading between the LENIII lines, it's a legit prospect, and that should be expected. Likely a guy like a Lewis Thorpe or Mitch Garver or Brusdar Graterol sort of guy.
  20. While their catchers may not be nationally known, they've got very good depth at the position from AA on down. Garver would be intriguing, and seriously, with Garcia the best rental pitcher available on the market, to get him off of the market before the deadline, I'd imagine the cost isn't going to be "cheap". It would be a legit prospect. Murphy's not that. I don't see any difference between Anthony Recker and Murphy.
  21. SS is a depth position in the org. Camargo and Swanson in the majors currently, but Jace Peterson is a SS by trade. Albies has moved to 2B to work with Swanson eventually, but they still have a ton of depth at SS down the system. Vielma would perhaps split time in AA. Otherwise, the SS's at every other level are entrenched and prospects the Braves want to develop.
  22. My brother and I enjoyed their music together, finding it funny to be a guy in his early 30s and a college guy at a concert with a bunch of goth teens a few years back. Their stuff on disc or on radio was never close to the act they were live, and that's where I loved getting to see them (4 different times). My brother and I had been debating going to see a show of their current album when a tour date would work for both of us and our young families now. Absolutely tragic. Having worked in mental health for just short a decade, allow me this minor soapbox - depression sucks, but it can be treated. Suicide is permanent. If you're ever even considering it, please reach out to someone who will listen - heck, send me a PM here...I'll absolutely listen.
  23. I also talked with Cory on his "Baseball Is Good" podcast for an hour tonight and much of it was about this proposed deal, so give that a listen!!
