  1. Right. There was also word that he was remaking his swing over past several years, I'm not sure we really know what Parmelee's ceiling or floor is because of that...
  2. I think RP should institute a word filter that corrects all the possible misspellings of all the Twins players to their correct spellings. It may take some time, but it'd take the heavy weight of spelling away from the heathens.
  3. Last time we played, I think you won our match with a walkoff grandslam. Turnabout is fair play. Also, do you have any interest in trading some of minor league infielders (Odor, Rosario, Schoop)?
  4. My team has been playing much better lately (12-4 last four weeks). And with Bauer and Perez up my time to contend may be happening a bit sooner than I thought. It looks like a Timmy L is coming around after today and his last start, which is a godsend. I almost wish I would have waited to acquire a catcher, like one that's actually playing this season. My trouble is I get so attached to some players, that it's difficult for me to assess where my team can best improve. I still believe in Smoak but firstbase is an obvious place where I need more production. I need an upgrade at second, too, but at least that's not a typical fantasy producing position. I also don't have a legit thirdbaseman this year. But I really like what Davidson is doing at AA.
  5. At least Floyd is on my fantasy team. Jeeze.
  6. Why not? New board, new identity. I'm been running with this handle for 10 years...time for a change?
  7. Can this be my new screen name????!?!?
  8. To recap: 1) it's good to educate the public about stats, even if mislabeled sabr 2) it's elistist to suggest the general public doesn't know about these stats 3) it's nothing new so it's hardly uplifiting the discourse and not really elitist at all. You're going to be fun to post with in game threads.
  9. Many of us just came from a Twins message board where we referred to ourselves as elitists, so get used to it. Moreover, there's nothing wrong with trying to uplift the discourse.
  10. Right. But as we know OPS isn't really statistically sound either. WHIP actually has more solid basis for measuring what intends and doesn't simply mush two percentages together.
  11. I'm sure it wasn't his idea to bring up those statistical categories. Come on. Again, you don't bring in a nuclear physicist to explain how force is derived from mass and acceleration...
  12. QS and WHIP have been on the backs of baseball cards for two decades. Sabermetrics typically refers to more complex statistical metrics than QS, WHIP, and OPS. It's fine to educate your audience on statistics, it's obtuse to miscategorize such statistics.
  13. To his credit, Bert just asked what WAR was....
  14. Sabermetric lesson includes QS, OPS, and WHIP. Cutting edge Fox Sports North!
  15. "This man next to me is not and never was a baseball player. Do you guys think I'm an idiot?"
  16. This place will have to do, for now. Espn, Dtfc, byto...
  17. Might have something to do with our overall record. Context matters. That's not to suggest that everyone isn't pleased with a win.
  18. 7.5 out. Here we go on a run, enabling us to get nothing for our trade chits and still have enough time to swoon into irrelevance by august 15th. Yay!
  19. Why isn't Doumit pinch hitting right here!?
  20. I wish this Revere guy would get on base every once in a while so he could utilize his speed.
  21. Because it's Major League baseball, not a pick up game out in the street. People are talking about Butera as if he's Liriano's kid brother, whom the entire neighborhood tries to leave out. I can buy that Butera might do somethings that puts Liriano at ease, what I can't buy is that Butera's pampering skills make up for his anemic bat nor do I buy the notion that Mauer or Doumit could not similarly placate the itty bitty, sensitive lefty.
  22. That's the grandma logic the Twins seem to be using to. I say leave the doily like platitudes on the buffet table. Suggesting that your finding the silver lining doesn't justify poor roster management on the Twins part...
