    Those pop up ads gotta go. They popped up at least 6 times while i was trying to post a new thread. every time i tried to scroll down one would pop up then twice after i closed it the one at the top would pop up before i could move my cursor. Maybe just moving them to a new location on the page would help?

    Eli is not an elite QB. I'm sorry but being good enough in close games with a great team around you does not ELITE make. Peyton is 10 times the qb that Eli could ever wish to be.

    I would love to see a retractable roof, but I think getting an MLS team is out of the picture even with it. Other than a couple of local self-serving articles (based in part on Zygi's statements), there's been no indication that Minnesota is even on the radar screen for MLS expansion. We just wouldn't support an MLS team. The Thunder never drew much and the Stars don't either. Both teams won league titles and at times played very nice soccer. I'd love to see it but i'd be sad when they folded or moved in 2 years.

    If the Twin Cities sports writing is so bad what towns have it good? I know it ain't Seattle because i lived there for 3 years and Boston and NY are so condescending and negative that i can hardly believe they can be considered good. Also which TC sports writers ARE good? Personally I like LENIII.

    Let Deduno keep doing what he is doing. he has been very effective thus far and the Twins don't tend to spend much in FA. If he does "blow up" send him packing its not like he is getting paid a ton of money. Just because you think he might hit the wall, ots no reason to get rid of such a remarkably effective pitcher. (i mean remarkably as in "how is this guy doing it.) Also i just don't get all the extreme Gardy hate around here. Do any of you actually believe the teams he had in several of those playoff years were anything more than average talent wise? I would say that atleast three of those teams had no right to even be in the playoff race on talent alone. Sure he has his flaws that have all been repeated ad nauseum around here but seems to be a very good motivator who gets the most out of limited options (the last two years excepted.)

    Anything from Ivars is a good call at the Safe. Get there early and take in the nice views also try to find the vintage jersey store in Pioneer square(the neiborhood the ballpark is in. And be sure to bring a sweater/light jacket the breeze off the sound can get chilly.

    Wow! never played affillated ball and is putting up those numbers at NB! I realize he is not considered a prospect at age 28 but i am now firmly rooting for this guy to get some MLB at bats someday!

    The Twins outfield prospects seem to be doing very well this year (other than Benson). Arcia made the jump to AA seemlessly, Hicks is finally putting it all together, Revere has graduated from prospect to solid MLB'er heck even Kepler down in E-town is progressing nicely. are there any other orgs. that have as good a group of OF talent?

    "Prospects" sure. But Revere was a better player at every step in the minors, there is something to be said for that. He has shown what he can do every step of the way. Players like Benson and Hicks are still talked about as toolsy of having upside. they haven't shown it yet. thats what i meant by taking "a wait and see" approach.

    I lived in Seattle for 3 years and LOVE King Felix. Safeco is a nice Stadium as well though i like Target Field better. in the late 80's and early 90's I watched a ton of Braves Games on TBS or TNT or whatever but after the Twinkies beat em in the best WS ever I stopped following them.

    I don't see why people were so down on Revere earlier this year. Yes his arm was a bit of an issue last year and yes his time in the majors up until that point hadn't shown his hitting ability, but when you look at his minor league stats he hit.326 for his career in the minors. Why would you not expect that to continue into MLB? Sure some drop off could be expected and we see that in his OBP. However as has been said, this year his arm is rated as average his range is way above average and he is now starting to hit to his potential. If he adds a bit of muscle to up his slugging pct a little and can take a few more walks I see no reason that he can't hold off the younger guys and man CF for 5-8 years or more. He is going to be hard to unseat at any OF position. Sure I hope that someone like Benson, Hicks etc. can come up and force his way into Revere's position. I guess i will just wait and see because if Revere continues to develop even a little I see little chance that those guys can take his place.

    It is just stupid that so may BBWAA guys take offensive numbers into account for a defensive award. that and the yankee bias is why imo herbie never won a gold glove.

    thanks for the info and welcome guys! i've been following the twinkies since i was 3 years old fishing the st. croix river and listening to them on the radio. thats since 1980!! i feel old just saying that. i look forward to some great give and take here on TD.

    Hi guys! Just signed up and love the site. my biggest problem with reading the site is not knowing much about the sabermetrics used so often. if someone could link me to a good page or better yet create a post to sticky on the front page so rubes like myself can better understand would be great. technical jargon is not needed for me but simple explanations of things like WAR, RISP, xFIP etc in an easily accessible place would be great. I agree that this newbie thread is a great place for questions of this sort and maybe should be mentioned on the cheat sheet. this forum and site in general is a great resource for twins fans!
