  1. Is this a Twins network show or just a talk show that has Terry Ryan on it?? I know that I won't be able to catch 1500 out here in the outstate.
  2. Does he still have a 1/2 hour Sunday radio show? What time? In past years, I've been able to listen to him one hour before the game, then the pre-game for 1/2 hour, then the game, this year haven't been able to tune him in... This timetable seemed to work whether it was an early East coast game, a home game, or a late West coast game. I like hearing what he has to say, he always gives some tidbits about players in the minors, injuries, etc. In a side note, I AM able to catch Ron Gardenhire at 9:30, then I turn it over to Sid.
  3. I never have understood the whole baseball philosophy of throwing at a batter after they've hit a home run!!! The batter was just doing their job!!! The pitcher should be the one looking at himself in the mirror instead of throwing at the batter!!!
  4. This article kind of explains the nature of some of the articles, there have been more than a few where I wondered what the heck, thats kind of off topic, not really about the Twins - people are practicing their writing. Good for them. I followed Seth here from his site, I'm here mainly to get Twins info, I've learned a lot, I follow the minor leagues more than I ever did before I got here. Unless I have a lot of time, I stay away from reading all the comments, unless its one of the original starters of the site, too much bickering in the comments. Not sure where to ask this so I'll ask it here. Sometimes I have a question that I'd like to post, for example "Why do players get thrown at for doing there job, like hitting a home run?" but not sure where to post it??? Thanks!! Keep up the good work all!!
  5. I still miss Johan, I loved listening to the Twins when he was pitching!!
  6. So who is going to be the new whipping boy for the blogging community? For awhile it was Punto, then Butera, now who?? My guess is Florimon...
  7. This may sound like a dumb question, but doesn't the catcher call the pitches? If the pitcher isn't shaking him off, then the catcher should get blamed for pitch selection, correct? Isn't it as simple as Anderson telling Hendricks to just throw what his veteran catchers are calling for??
  8. If Morneau plays the whole season with the Twins, and signs with another team in the off season, will the Twins get any compensation in the form of an extra draft pick?? If the answer is yes, I think thats what will happen. TR/Twins get something out of it and Justin ends up being the bad guy for going elsewhere - shades of Tori Hunter. Dumaits not getting traded, they like him as a replacement for Mauer, keeps Mauer healthy and on the field.
  9. Screwed that one up didn't I??!! SI had a good article on him awhile back, how 24 other teams passed on him, now the Angels have a budding superstar. Goes to show how much of a crap shoot the draft really is.
  10. The questions I would have liked to have seen is: How does a player like Bryce Harper fall so far in the draft and then become a superstar?? How come so many teams, including the Twins, passed on him?
  11. Its always tough at the trading deadline, are you a seller or a buyer?? How many games do you need to be out of first place to say you're a seller? Hopefully Terry R. will lean on the side of selling and adding more young players for the future.
  12. Thanks for the positive article!!! Its a 'ray of sunshine' after all the negativity lately!! I've always said that the Twins are usually built every year where everything has to work out just right, even when they win, they're never overpowering, they don't have excess players (or money) to use to fill in when injuries or poor performance happens.
  13. Posts like these, bickering at each other for being positive or negative, makes me wonder why I even bother reading the comments. I should just stick to reading Seth and some of the other main posters articles and leave it at that!!!
  14. Looks like the natives are getting restless!@!!! Time for spring training to start before they start killing themselves!!! Did anyone hear Sid's interview with Terry Ryan on Sunday? When the subject of Butera came up Terry just made it plain that he wanted a veteran catcher around in case Mauer or Dumait get hurt, that the organization was a little short on catchers. Makes sense. You've got a raw, unproven pitching staff, on sense in adding an unproven catcher to the mix when you can sign a known defensive catcher for a little over the minimum salary. Let the flames roar on!!!
  15. I rest my case. Play him for years in the minors at SS, find out he can't throw, then move him to third in the majors, so he has to learn at the highest level. Head shaking... Hopefully he can just show some consistency with both the bat and the glove, make the plays he should make, and hit 20+ home runs.
  16. What I don't understand is why did it take so long for them to move him to third base?? He failed miserably at shortstop once he got to the majors, why didn't they see that sooner??!!! More games at third in the minors would probably make him a better defender now.
  17. I just hope they keep him out of the rotation, leave him in the bullpen where he has done well.
  18. I'd give them a B+ My reasoning is that: 1) They took a position of strength (centerfield) and used it to fill some of their pitching holes for this year and the future. Great moves!! 2) They kept their options open. So many of the posters here wanted the Twins to get rid of every tradable asset. Now if the Twins are in contention at the trade deadline – and they can be if the middle of the order – Willingham, Morneau, Mauer, hit like they are capable of, and some of the additions – Pelfrey, Harden, Worsley – pitch like they have in the past. If they’re not in contention at the trade deadline, they can make trades when the players value is the highest instead of giving them away in the off season. Then bring up the young guys to finish out the season. Hopefully the Twins will surprise us but if not we can follow the young players in August and September.
  19. Isn't this the way the Twins are always built, meaning all the pieces have to fall together, stay away from injuries, have the stars align just right, in order to win?? When was the last time that they had enough talent to be overwhelming favorites going into a season??
  20. I agree, if the team plays hard all season, he'll stay - if he wants too. You gotta think that three losing seasons would wear on him, hes banked some good coin, he may want to go the Tom Kelly route and just go back to coaching. Speaking of coaches, I like Gardy but I am dispointed that he didn't show some spine, when TR fired HIS coaches, Gardy should have said "I'm out of here".
  21. I just read the interview with Terry Ryan, I liked it, cool, calm, collected. Not spending as much money as I'd like to see but he'll get the job done. It the Twins are in contention at the trade deadline, he'll have money to spend, if they're out, then he has some trade chips to get rid of for young players. You guys can bitch away about him but he'll get it done.
  22. Tough crowd here. Nick writes a generally positive article giving us hope, showing us an example of a team that went from very poor to contending, and he gets a bunch of negative comments. Just like any forum, you start getting recognized for the quality, or lack of, in your posts. Time to start ignoring the constant bitchers and moaners.
  23. Morneau will be gone next year, either at the trade deadline or leaving via free agency, then the first base job will be Parmalee's.
  24. Pretty interesting, almost humorous, reading the discussion on who was or wasn’t called up. All season long posters have wanted the Twins to make moves to get better but now they outraged because a guy (Slama) that everybody agrees is pretty average wasn’t rewarded. Which is it, make moves to get better or reward a minor leaguer?? There are only so many at bats and innings to pitch, use them on evaluating guys, so the front office knows what moves they need to make for 2013. Slama will get his chance in spring training, if he does well, he’ll go north with the team. Same way with Dozier, this snub will hopefully give him some motivation to work hard and make the team out of spring training. I’d rather see them promote and evaluate guys for 2013.
  25. Now that Grey is gone, who going to be the next 'most hated Twin' on this board??
