  1. Seriously. If he's got some kind of non-banned-substance secret to velocity, they should keep him around just to pick his brain. 5 MPH is ridiculous.
  2. Maybe neither here nor there, but the Harper free agent contract is coming up in 2018. I think a lot of agents are going to wait for him to set the market so they can point to extension offers like this and say "Pssh, the Yankees gave Bryce Harper half a billion dollars, and you expect me to happy with $200 million!?"
  3. True. I personally don't think the time is right to bring him up, nor do I think sending him up and down (what we've called "jerking around" for others) is a sound strategy. But I also hope that he'll force the issue soon enough to where we won't ever have to worry about options for him.
  4. If Romero is on the 40 man and in the minor leagues, he's already on optional assignment. This is one of his option years, and it doesn't matter for options if he gets moved up and down this year.
  5. This was my initial thought (or is it blind hope?) as well. Even though he only pitched three innings this outing, he struck out five. That was like a two-game total for him last year. Obviously, the results aren't there aside from the rise in strikeouts, but if he is just working on things, he's got a chance to improve.
  6. He's also right. The Buxton from a week ago (or, hell, even yesterday) would have ended the only inning they scored in. Yeah it's a team sport, but that was huge.
  7. Good defensive replacement there with Kepler.
  8. I had to reload. My feed is apparently a few minutes behind. Buxton walked again, I gather. What happened with Dozier?
  9. I would really like some insurance runs.
  10. Only 70 pitches for Hughes so far. How long do they keep rolling that die?
  11. It's not a grand slam, but it'll do. And I am pretty happy with what Buxton has been able to do, too. Not whiffing today, made solid contact on a couple foul balls, has been getting ahead in counts, took a walk. And now he scores a run. That's how that happens.
  12. Glad they worked out of that jam. Just need some runs.
  13. I see you! I just wouldn't have guessed you were a 12-ish year old girl.
  14. I feel the need to defend Radke here. He was much, much better than an average pitcher. Hughes has nothing on him.
  15. That was actually a pretty good at bat for Buxton.
  16. The Tigers ate $8 million of Pelfrey's contract, and now he's pitching for the White Sox. At the very least, he's shared the pain very democratically among the AL Central.
  17. Torii didn't disseminate that very well.
