  1. Well the mlb.tv feed is back on. So I got to see that...
  2. I'd contribute something, but mlb.tv is so buggy right now it's literally unwatchable. I have no idea what's going on in the game. Did we win? Did someone bean Ryan Braun in his awful little face?
  3. But they had that fireballer on the mound who reached up to the high sixties at times.
  4. I put "big sexy colon" into Google, and boy was I surprised at what I found! Did you know that he has a career ERA+ of 108!?
  5. This pitcher is pretty good. ...wait. Gee, this pitcher is really good. (Am I doing this right?)
  6. Back in ...I wanna say 2010, I got tickets to go see Ubaldo Jimenez vs. Francisco Liriano at Target Field. I think both of them had ERAs in the 1s at the time. Yeah, that game ended up like 9 - 1.
  7. That's basically a home run for Grossman.
  8. And Mauer's first error in a year. Not a fun inning.
  9. Four strikeouts. 34 pitches. What would the odds be that he's actually only gotten four outs?
  10. Oh good* Kyle Gibson is coming back. *I don't think it's that good.
  11. I hope Roy Smalley stays out of the left lane if he doesn't drive 67. Then again, I've driven in Minnesota, and the "passing lane" is more like the "I don't care about anyone else lane," so I guess I wouldn't hold out hope.
  12. Today's Joe M conversation really resonates with me. You see, I'm genius-level smart and devastatingly handsome. However, my best quality - as I will tell anyone who listens - is my modesty.
  13. This does seem to be a good time to spend more. The core is still cheap, and we're about to enter what should be the window of contention. Also, with how significantly better the team has been this year, and with attendance being a lagging effect, they could reasonably expect more revenue next year anyway.
  14. That would be terrible business analysis. The money is gone any way you slice it, and frankly, we already know that it was an expensive mistake. Literally the only consideration should be whether you think Hughes will provide more value over the life of his contract than the last guy added to the 40-man this offseason will provide over the life of his. The idea that either will add any value at all is, to be perfectly fair, quite speculative.
  15. It really does seem like they're putting a whole lot of focus on top-quality secondary pitches. Big curveballs and polished changeups are what I'm seeing. Maybe they're onto something there?
  16. Shouldn't we take into account the fact that it's now easier to shuffle the pieces around and get some help from the upper minors? Guys like Garver, Curtiss, Romero, etc. They could all be up tomorrow with some strategic thinking. And not only does that give them valuable experience and probably make us better next year, it's also the exact opposite of giving up if they can perform the way we think they can. Who knows, this might make us better.
  17. I vote for outrage. I expect every subsequent post from you about this topic to be in all caps.
  18. drjim reports in another thread that the Twins are getting international bonus pool money too. Looks even better now.
