  1. As disastrous as our starting pitching is throughout the system with the best piitchers only throwing 90 and don't seem to project as much more than an average 3 starter (Gibson with his TJ can't be counted on until you see what you got) you have to go with a starter with some velocity and potential to miss bats. I think buxton is tempting but drafting toolsie players is such a risk and one that the twins can't afford to take. Even if he panned out he wouldn't be here for 4-6 years. The twins have no problem signing FA outfielders but wont stick money into a decent starter. Look at marquis career numbers! Who thought that he would last til the All-star break? I mean what a joke. Any pitcher we draft after the 2nd pick will be like the rest, soft tosser who pitch to contact and can maybe be a 4 or 5 starter if he pans out. They need a potential 1 or 2 type pitcher. We the fans need one. I think you go with gausman or if they feel lucky try giolito who can hit 100 as a high schooler. After all the twins believe that they can teach any player control... So take a pitcher, please!
  2. Wouldn't be disappointed with buxton but would prefer a pitcher and gausman is my favorite of the group.
  3. I'd like to think for real. He is a lefty and we are told it takes them a bit longer to show there true capabilities.
  4. I don't think I would have made the trade. Bartlett seemed to be a possible staple at short for years and garza was looking like he would be a number 2 in a few years. I know the twins didnt like his attitude. I don't see much sense in trade away 2 positions to fill one.
  5. If the problem is bowden as a reliever than why are we getting ride of a pen guy to make room for him? If you want him start get ride of a starter. De vries is the clear choice if you want Bowden.
  6. I just don't want Appel. I got a bad feeling about him. I would like a pitcher so I hope gausman but hard to pass up buxton. Correa would be a nice pick if we didn't waste last years on micheal. It just doesn't make sense if you plan on them both panning out. You can't move one to 2B with Rosario looking like he will be moving up fairly fast.
  7. Send de vries down that makes a spot and I wouldn't mind never seeing Blackburn in a twins uniform again
  8. Most of us "outsiders" feel like the organization doesn't do a great job of moving players through the system. Does he feel like we have a case or does he think they do a great job? I highly doubt any player would through his management under the bus but I'd think it would be interesting to know if he feels they handle things correctly.
  9. This is parmelees first time in AAA. He went from a September callup from AA NB to the majors then made the team out of ST. Parmelee is still a pretty young player. It's not like he's 28 or anything. Let him spend some time in AAA and with an injury to any one of Willingham span or revere and he will be up to play right field. Willingham gets hurt revere would go to left and parm in right. Same for span and center field. Revere gets hurt and he stays in right with Plouffe staying at 3rd.

    Cole Nelson

Nelson pitched 4 innings allowing a hit and a walk while striking out 5. He throw 60 pitches in his first start of the year after making 6 relief appearances. I believe that he could end up making the Delmon Trade look a lot better for us if he is left in as a starter. He throws hard and strikes people out.
  11. Chance

    Cole Nelson

and now a double play to finish out the 3rd inning.

    Cole Nelson

In the third he has given up a double followed by an error by Levi Micheal

Cole Nelson is pitching today for Fort Myers. He hasn't given up a hit through the first 2 innings and has gotten 3 strike outs with no walks.

  15. Kind of have to agree with this. I liked the proposed topic because I really wasn't sure what I'd do. I sure don't want Willingham to go, I look forward to his at bats and you are locked in the whole plate appearance. But at the same time if a contender is willing to part with a top prospect and maybe a couple other talents with some upside I'd like the twins to make the trade. And for those complaining about not wanting to watch a game without him since we are rebuilding then don't watch at all ever. This is baseball it happens when you arent a major market team live with it and enjoy watching prospects.
  16. Excited to see Cole Nelson make his first start this season! Hopefully he can show some signs of being a valuable piece of the Delmon Young trade. Oliverios is looking like he could eventually be a solid reliever/closer? maybe? someday? Nelson can throw mid to high 90's touching about 97mph. That would be great to have in a starting lineup in 2-3.5 years or so. His era is a little high but I hope that the Twins let him develop as a starter because 2 decent/average relievers aren't a great value trade for Young. I really hope this turns into a AJ to SF trade... you never know. As we all have been saying that you have to nail a trade eventually and the Twins have had more then their fair share of trades end poorly for them.

    Potential

    Liriano just showed his potential
  18. The only reason I would like Sano in Ft. Myers would be to work with the better coaches. Him and Rosario could really benefit with a move to A+. But it's not because I want him in the majors this year.

    Potential

Every year I look at the Twins and say, "they have potential." I don't believe that I'm alone in this either. This season I felt that Pavano could potentially be a workhorse with an era around 3.90 and play the part of a veteran leader. Baker would finally be over his arm issues and be somewhat of an ace. Liriano would lighten up and dominate again. Blackburn would be able to be average and hold down a spot in the rotation. Hendriks would win a job over marquis and look rather steady in the rotation. We all know how far off I was. Not one starter has been close to there potential. I don't believe that I ask to much. I don't believe that they can all be aces and rival the Phillys rotation. I just want them to play as well as I believe they can. The same goes for the bats. The lineup we ran out against Oakland should potentially win us a lot of games. We have fast table setters with span and revere. Mauer could potential find his power again and hit the ball to right. Willingham would show a lot of XB power and drive in a bunch of runs. And the bottom of the lineup could look respectable. I find it safe to say that the bats haven't played up to there potential (apart from possibly Willingham). I feel like they can all reach my request. They don't have to all be all-stars, just play within themselves and do what they have the ability to do. Im not here to start up any fire Gardy/Andy/vavra chants, frankly I'm sick of hearing it. But something most be causing this team to miss its potential. Not one or two players, but essentially the whole team. Not just once, but two years now. What will it take? I still believe that this team has the "potential" to win a playoff series against the Yankees or whoever. For some reason though we fail as a team to reach our potential. It's sad because this is a team to be excited about but they disappoint more often than they excite.

  21. Why Have him bunt when they are playing so far up?! He could have just blooped a single. Willingham!!! Great call by Dick!!!
  22. Well I was WAY off! But I'm glad. Nothing wrong with a pitching battle (as long as we sneak out the win).
  23. MLB said it was going to be a pitching battle... But I almost expect the opposite. Probably over 5 runs each even though Parker hasn't been bad at all. I think we can tag him for some runs early.
  24. As soon as the draft happens are those players fair game? Or after they sign?
