  1. Cant understand why Twins want Santana over Beresford at SS, Beresford has a better batting average and fielding wise is excellent, only 2 errors (of which one was a bad relay throw) yet Santana currently has 15 errors
  2. Just when James has been able to get on top with the bat and glove this tragedy hopefully will only be a slight hiccup in his season which so far has been very good, hope your back soon James
  3. Though no safe hits tonight (17 April) James continued to hit the ball with 2 sacrifices (RBI) in 4 at bats. Should now be given more chances with wood in his hands than warming his pants.
  4. Problem as I see it Shane is that even today James Beresford is not being given any chances in AA, seeing more time on the bench than on the diamond wont help him to show his skills over trade ins.
  5. Australia have selected James Beresford and Brendan Wise
  6. Baseball players progressing through the playing levels in Australia may be looked at differently but they are generally promoted on performance so promotional talk about Sano I find interesting, over the past 2 seasons he has played at 5 & 6 level MLB leagues. His stats show raw power at that level of pitching with many home runs but having a closer look his contact % is not good with more Ks than hits, also he has made some 70 odd errors so where do you field him? The question only the future can tell is will he as the higher competition gets harder perform at a level to deserve promotion on merit not based on being a "No 1 prospect"?
  7. Maybe I am too far away to give a valid comment but all the talk about Sano I find interesting, over the past 2 seasons he has played at 5 & 6 level MLB leagues. his stats show raw power at that level of pitching with many home runs but having a closer look his contact % is not good with more Ks than hits, also he has made some 70 odd errors so where do you hide him? As the competition gets harder, will he get better?
  8. Thanks Jim for 'adopting' James this season , you have given an 'old' coach (both in age and history of James' baseball) many pleasures reading your comments in the mornings here on the other side of the world whilst you guys are off to bed. Well done James, very proud of you mate, hope to see you summer down under.
  9. I would support Jim's comment on James Beresford, only 10 errors so far and many of those are throwing due to attempts to get outs when batters have been 'scored' safe hits to his position
  10. What about Beresford, currently playing 50% SS & 2b at New Brittain, he shows excellent fielding skills both left and right, only 4 errors in 71 games and his batting is more about contact with the lowest by far Ks by regulars players, power is down but seems to hit the ball a lot.
  11. After a long road trip, a double header and an extra innings game it was good to see James back in the mix tonight even though another loss for Rock Cats. From 4 at bats he had 2 outfield hits and 2 outfield flys but as usual he showed his fielding skills with 2 outs in 2 double plays and had a further 6 assists. May not have power yet but has good contact and will never let you down in the field.
  12. Great to see James with some extra bases today, in order ground out, single , double , triple and was in the hole when end of game ...was it going to be a home run? With over 200 fielding plays for only 1 error, today he was involved in 3 double plays
  13. Wild throw by right field, picked up by left field who got the out at home on the attempt to score on the original throw, no error though as out was made on 'the play' I also believe James 1st and only error this season was a 'toss' throw to 2nd that was not gloved, apparently the game commentator may have seen it a bit different as far as the error was scored.
  14. Looking for a short stop prospect in the Twins? How about James Beresford?
  15. re your comments on James, he has always been an excellent fielder no matter the game level. Starting as an 8 year old he managed to perform at 2nd against U13 players in Australia. He has always shown great coverage, good hands and a very strong arm. It is pleasing to see he continues to be a good contact batter as he works his way up the Twins system, hopefully extra base power will come soon.
