  1. Oh my God. This is like a comedy routine. Nishi almost tripping over the bag. Any play that involves him is bound to be a disaster. How is that dropped fly not charged an error, by the way?
  2. The update said that this was likely to be Gibson's last start in the GCL, which is a nice step forward. Slow and steady. Don't want any setbacks.
  3. Having been a baseball and Twins fan for just three years, it's tough for me to say just yet, but here are my nominations of the years that I've watched: Matt Tolbert- Although decent defensively, never had an OBP above .322. I guess considering the expectations and salary, though, it's not like he should have produced a whole lot, unlike Nishioka. Jim Hoey- Pitched 24 innings last year and had an almost 1:1 BB/K ratio. Aside from the horrendous 10+ ERA that he posted at the beginning of last season, the real kicker is his WHIP of almost 2.00. Once again, though, salary and expectation probably prevents him from being considered the worst, although awful. Drew Butera- While a lot is often made of his defensive abilities and his (apparent) ability to fix a terrible starting pitcher, Drew has never posted an OBP of .275 or better and holds a career .185/.229/.270, which is just so dreadful it's almost not worth talking about. Makes me wish that there could be a designated hitter for the catcher instead of the pitcher sometimes. All this being said, however, I don't think any Twin has ever disappointed me like Nishioka has. All the money that it took to bring a Japanese batting champion to the United States has amounted in absolutely nothing but headaches and misery.
  4. I have a feeling that Blackburn will retain a spot as a starter just based on stubborn management refusing to cut him just based on the amount of cash he's making. Meh, the Twins won't contend next year at any rate, and if they are contending at any point, Blackburn will probably be having a decent year anyway.
  5. I guess the good news is that he may play himself out of the lineup defensively before he does offensively. This three game stretch has been some of the absolute worst baseball I've ever seen in my entire life (from Nishi, that is).
  6. Not sure if I should hope for another Nishi o-fer...at least then he'll play himself out of the bigs quicker.
  7. I personally don't understand much of the hate for Casilla either. He hasn't had many great moments this year with the stick, but he's made several defensive gems this season and showed pretty good range (and certainly better range than Carroll or Nishijokeah). Regular playing time seems to be something he would benefit from, both defensively and offensively. Casilla played in 97 games last year and posted a .260/.322/.368, which is far from stellar, but committed only 6 errors at 2B, and is valuable on the basepaths as a runner.
  8. I don't know anybody (outside of Twins fans) who even knows who Scott Diamond is.
  9. I'm just glad that we won and that Diamond pitched well against a relatively (?) potent lineup. I also like that the strikeout has become part of his game.
  10. Speaking of Valencia, I've had about enough of him. Can we send him down to AAA and just have Carroll play 3B every day to keep Casilla's bat in the lineup?
