  1. Who's disabling whom? For once in a lifetime, I'm with Doogie, no reason to have Mauer come back and try to play hurt like Cuddyer last year. The party line reports don't make the situation sound too positive for a Friday reappearance, the move to bring up Parmalee simply had to be made, the bench options are A's/Mariner-esque right now.
  2. Low-risk... high-reward option if Gaub could somehow be channeled through to Rochester and have Cuellar work some magic on his control and mechanic difficulties. Can never have enough pitching and resurrected careers have seen past precedence. Opens up more potential trading chips from areas of surplus to areas of need.
  3. Beat me to it. This is exactly what's happened. A JV schedule that only gets easier into the end of the month, much like last year- the Rochester guys came up and by mid-July had become thoroughly infected with the cancerous Twins ML culture. Rochester has yet to get through to Valencia-- or Nishioka, given other's successes moving up and down to the big club, probably says more about them than the coaching staff.
  4. Hey Seth! Does Slama's injury open up opportunities down the line? I know Tim Atherton is WAY down the line, BUT, there has to be a negative back-story to the ridiculously good numbers he is putting up in Beloit. Can he merit a promotion to Fort Meyers this summer, and is there a chance that he might be another Aussie with major league potential at some point?
  5. Shouldn't Mauer be available for pinch-running duty? I was a bit surprised that he (or Casilla) weren't inserted in the 9th inning for Willingham. If Gardy had been focusing on the late-game situations and the options available, instead of the ice-cold Falstaffs waiting for him in the training room, the Twins might have pulled off a KC sweep.
  6. "Bodes well"? Revere is hands down early-game favorite for Player of the Game...
  7. Thanks, that is a lot of good info there! I guess now we need the analysis of what the Twins' strategy has been in the later rounds. For Robinson (and others), has this just been a "courtesy" draft pick to let the player know of the Twins interest for later on? The impression going into the draft from the media was the Twins had a dire need to restock the farm teams, top to bottom. The Twins actions suggessts that apparently hasn't happened. I thought for sure there would be at least a couple Puerto Rico/Virgin Ilds signings in the late rounds. Is the "restocking" going to happen primarily in the subsequent drafts/international and undrafted free agent signings/waiver wire bargain bin pick-ups?
  8. I hear what you're saying, but you did see the video of Buxton hitting the ball (practically) onto Waveland Avenue at Wrigley, right? Effortless swing.
  9. Amen and LOL...Now that's some creative, outside the box thinking the Twins need in their current time of desperation!
  10. Jeremy, sounds like you already know a little about Robinson, what little I know is from the video, what a big kid! Does he have some quality college offers?/ can the Twins counter by suggesting he can fast-track by converting to catcher?/Thrylos says he's Burnett's brother?
  11. Austin Rei, shocking that they would go for yet another catcher.
  12. His video suggests he looks like a Bull in a china shop, big body boy, I think the Twins ask he try catcher. Does he buy the notion that that is his quick ticket through the minors? and What will Burnett recommend he do?
  13. The Twins are always looking for the next LNP, they found him in Haar, only Haar is 6'3".
  14. Uh oh. Sat out his true junior year with TJ surgery. I guess the Twins are glad he's gotten it out of the way.
  15. Kaleb Merck, SR RHP from TCU. Kind of cool to say you were drafted #1000.
  16. Listed as a sophomore, but you're right, he could be on an accelerated academic program. Still, how often do Harvard players get drafted?
  17. Upon further reflection, is there any chance they are "drafting for need" and are looking for a future replacement at the GM position?
  18. Let's see.... a lifetime of being first in line at every job interview with a Harvard degree......or a resume that shows you traveled the world, seeing E-Town, Beloit, Fort Meyers, New Britain and Rochester.....?
  19. I wasn't sure of your premise, but not it's confirmed: Andrew Ferriera LHP......Harvard?
  20. Timothy Robinson HS LF. Alex Burnett's brother? His scouting video confirms that he looks like a future converted catcher.
  21. Another good pick, improved every year at St John's. They had a good squad this year. I remember him shutting out the Gophers last season (two years in a row).
  22. Because he pitched all year for Northwestern State? Probably feels all right about it, I would guess.
  23. Even their pitchers are converted catchers. Does he convert back to catcher?, can't have enough with all the new arms coming in.
  24. This is a great pick. The Twins are channeling their inner Miami Marlins scouting service. Doubtful if they get him, but he has been to 3 colleges in the 3 years, so you never know.
  25. Must be incoming weather. The Nats just drafted CF Skye Bolt
