  1. The poster in question knows it, he just doesn't care to add anything edifying to the topic.
  2. I know you're doing a quick thumbnail sketch, and it's much appreciated. I just wanted to point out that Sano's slash-line is actually a far better reflection on how quickly he's adjusting than just the BA alone: . .200/.341/.467/.808 And 8 BBs with 10 Ks. And it looks the money on Minier was well-spent.
  3. In the Twins view, you should substitute "really" with "only". And he's achieved this without knowing proper base-running techniques yet.
  4. The Liam Hendriks well, invoked, yet again. You do realize the two pitchers are in completely different realms with respect to talent, right?
  5. So now you're actually proposing that Gibson = Hendriks? Uhh, nope that won't wash. And frankly, you clarified nothing except link Gibson to a policy that might "weird him out" if pronouncing what is holding him back is too explicit. While I was certainly glib in my little "communication" banter, I certainly never have suggested anything nefarious is afoot. That little conspiracy chestnut has already been thoroughly debunked previously. There obviously is/are reasons why Gibson is not getting the call, but the Twins public set of excuses for Gibson's delayed call-up thus far have been championed by the true believers- right up until they are completely demonstrated to be worthless, or in the case of babying Gibson- possibly spot on. That was what I was lampooning. I'm sorry, you may pooh-pooh AAA numbers, but the fact remains that Gibson is "consistently" (ha, that word again) putting up numbers that Matt Harvey could only dream about last year in Buffalo; unless there is something physically wrong that he is working on correcting, or, major league promotion presents a clear and present endangerment to his long-term career, this has gone on far too long.
  6. The point is certainly ubiquitously out there for consideration and currently accepted by most modern baseball statistical theorists, should you care to actually discuss the pros and cons of it, instead of employing useless hit and run, passive-aggressive, non sequiturs.
  7. I could provide 100 more links, but I believe twinsnorth stated it succintly. I doubt anything would sway your opinion away from your current stand and actually considering the facts taught at UCS. It's accredited and everything.
  8. Except that the Twins are on the hook for Dooms in 2014 for $3.5M and the club demonstrated by his extension that they are clearly enamored with his presence as Mauer insurance and Gardy at cross-purposes with a franchise supposedly in rebuilding mode.
  9. Unless you can produce the actual audio, it's just a myth...
  10. Seth, I'm wondering where you ranked Edgar Ibarra preseason and where he might fall in your next rankings? After a little slump at the end of May, he's back to lights out in June and having a terrific overall season at age 24 (he's given up just 1 hit in 6 June appearances). Does he project as a major league LOOGY only?- or something more?
  11. The problem with Plouffe though, is that ever since his wrist injury last year, he appears to now favor the "use the whole field" approach at the expense of "pounding it" a little more often.
  12. I like his defense (at second base, anyways), too. But...he also makes some routine plays look difficult... I'm not holding my breath that his batting line will be any better than it is today.
  13. While that is true about the clubs you mentioned, they also have made good-to-very good trades.
  14. That doesn't mean you still shouldn't pull the trigger if it serves to help the team for the long term. Willingham and Correia are both "found" talent, holding back developing and developed talent, and most importantly, "relevant talent" bound to be around for the next turn.
  15. Terry Ryan anticipated your request going into this year. Don't Jeff Clement, Tim Wood and Mike Kvasnicka ring a bell?
  16. The public admonitions from the Twins staff about what they see in Buxton is virtually unprecedented for a Twins prospect. Mauer may have had the same published evaluations, but it sure seems that Buxton has been getting even bigger hype from people in the organization (like Tom Kelly and Paul Molitor) who don't even know the meaning of hype. And regarding Sano, Dougie-Fresh probably spoke out of turn, then, when he pronounced that Sano's bat is major league ready?
  17. So is that why GMs, officials and scouts from other organizations, along with many of the professional independent writers and evaluators are openly questioning how both Sano and Buxton are being handled?
  18. I'm going to trademark this one as "The D.R.S. Talking-To." Do you give this same motivational speech on a full-time basis in another venue? Where do I sign my kids up? The "DRS" is back in the house!
  19. IMO, that line of argument destroys the rest of the case being made. It really isn't and shouldn't be about what the fans want, it just appears to be so obviously in the best interest for the long-term benefit to both the franchise and to Gibson for him to be getting major league innings. If they have actually identified a flaw or tell in Gibson's delivery or mechanics, what does it hurt to work on the "problem(s)" and fix it/them in real-time under real major league situations? It can't be a concern over innings pitched or pitches per appearance, he has multiple complete games with multiple 100+ pitched games. There is nothing in Gibson's makeup that suggests he will suffer a career-ending mental collapse if he has a couple bad outings with the Twins.
  20. 1) In regards to the underlined, then why did you say the first part of your sentence if you're "not saying that is at all the case with Gibson." What else are we supposed to think? 2) So give me an idea on what the Twins communication is about his approach, exactly. Is it something like: "7 of 9 effective starts just isn't consistent enough for the big leagues, Kid. The International League aint the majors, you Young Buck. You're still wet behind the ears, heck, didn't you just start shaving last week? Here's the Bottom Line, Rookie: Until you're matching Matt Harvey's numbers from last year in Buffalo, we just don't think you've got what it takes for a Premature Call-Up, don't you know how damaging it would be to your psyche if it doesn't go well........ Uhh, what's that you say Kyle? You say you're numbers this year are better than Harvey's from last year? OK, you might have a point, but look at how much Harvey is regressing, he has 3 bad starts in his last 6. Sorry kid, Matt will probably be joining you back in the IL in another week or two...." "Glad we had this chance to touch base. Communication is so important. Let's touch base again when we decide on your shutdown date (most likely after the fact)."
  21. Did Terry Ryan stick around that late in the game to jot the kid's name down on his note pad?
  22. I've been wishing really hard for just this scenario from the day he was signed. I just continue to hope that Ryan had, and still has, just this scenario in mind.
  23. Did Ryan seek out that trade? It was widely reported that Philadelphia basically orchestrated and gift-wrapped the entire process in that deal. And it's quite early to put the final stamp on the trade. May needs to become a regular and reliable starter to deem it successful. If Revere ends up with a productive Michael Bourn-type career- it means Revere wasn't traded at his high, and of course if May busts, it could easily be argued that the trade was a small disaster.
  24. Uhh, yeah? The won-loss record of a pitcher is the least valuable piece of information about his worth- and the 2nd least valuable piece isn't even close.
  25. Trading him to a legit contender in the offseason should have been amenable to both Willingham and his agent.
