  1. Wow. Looking at his peripherals a couple weeks ago upon his promotion to AAA, I was thinking this guy could be a comer. I just didn't think he would leapfrog three arms (May, Mejia, Gonsalves) this quickly. I am hoping his upcoming opportunity is not just confirmation bias on the part of FalVine for trading for him. What a huge shot in the arm if he proves to be an immediate contributor.
  2. "Article?" How about a flurry of articles over the last month with the "conventional wisdom" that the Twins' bats are done? It seems like everyone forgot the principle of "regression to the mean.'
  3. Great article on Grzelakowski. I guess despite his hitting success, he's still considered too raw as a catcher to make the FSL All Star team. You and he mentioned that he's on a weight control program with the Twins nutritionist. Any idea of his current weight? Moving straight from Gulf Coast League to A+ ball is fairly extraordinary, especially at a premium position. Your quotes from him seem to indicate that he has the personal makeup to make it.
  4. Yes and no. Assuming he makes the US Olympic team, that would be his focus for at least a year.
  5. Hey Seth, what do you know about the guy who CAUGHT Griffin Jax las night, Taylor Grzelakowski? Doing a little research on his background, he appears to be another one of those undrafted mystery prospects the Twins scouting staff finds in strange places. - Alum of Madonna College? (NAIA) in MIchigan. - Absolutely mashed there his senior year with a BA of .426 and an OPS of 1.294. - And apparently, a softball player body build of 5'11" and 245 lbs. - Twins staff saw enough positives to send him directly from Rookie Ball in 2017 to A+ level in 2018. - Admittedly older for FSL ball, still, he leads all catchers in SLG, OPS, wOBA - Not only that, he ranks 4th overall in FSL in SLG, OPS and ISO (100 PA) - 30% CS rate - Seems like with those numbers lt should have been harder to keep him off the FSL All Star squad. What held him back? So.... does he have the chops with the glove (and the bat, for that matter) to be considered a prospect? Or... is he inevitably headed for superstardom in Independent League ball?
  6. Lots of great questions. I believe that when he resurfaced it was stated that Jax would be in training as part of the 2020 US Olympic team. Little detail on a prospective roster or training schedule for the Olympic squad as of yet, other than the team would be made up solely of minor league players.
  7. 1) I can make the exact same argument about the Twins. 2) Or those 7 games just as easily could revive hopes of salvaging the season. You invariably seem to prefer allusions to the proverbial coffin half-full, I'd rather go with the coffin all-empty, for the moment, at least- lot of baseball left.
  8. Now... don't you start using your multi-fangled factual arguments on me. I was sarcastically and (over)subtly stating Molitor's rationale for sitting Buck last night (via Dick Bremer) .
  9. Logan Morrison over the last 28 days has an .813 OPS & OPS+ of 125. That number is not that far from his OPS .868 & OPS+ of 135 in 2017. And his May performance is actually well above his career total of .758 OPS & OPS+ of 108. The Twins are more than getting what they paid for in LoMo in May.
  10. Duffy has a history of dominating Buxton.
  11. Falvine haven't finished their jobs yet. They need another RH bat, SS with some pop to DFA Adrianza (or just call up Gordon in another couple weeks), and/or perhaps another OF should Buxton have to spend some time in AAA to get his stroke back.
  12. Nothing newsworthy here on that perspective. Mediocrity has been been the story of the Classic Lake Division since 1994. The formula for success in the Central is simple- clean up on the unbalanced reg. season schedule, and get hot and/or really lucky in October.
  13. Yep. He has an .830 OPS in May with a .517 SLG. The last 10 games his slash line is .356/.400/.689/(1,089). This is the guy many of us expected to see. The best part? He's seemingly "flipped the switch"... jacked up his hitting production in these last 10 games, right as the 2 guys who have hit ahead and behind him (Wade and Gordon) are no longer in the batting order.- replaced by much lesser hitters in English and Ramsey
  14. That Lewis foul ball catch is pretty impressive. The kid is all of 19 and already looks like a major leaguer out there.
  15. Looks like Jacob Pearson wants to move up on the Twins' prospect chart in a hurry.
  16. Actually, it was pretty easy to figure: Buxton Minor League Slash: .302/.379/.504/(.883) Rosario MiLB Slash: .294/.340/.484/(.824) Kepler MiLB Slash .281/.363/.446/(.809)
  17. Slegers' promotion chances took a gut punch this afternoon. 4.2 IP 9 ER 11 Hits 2 BB 1 HBP 2 K Ouch!
  18. Bingo. If anything, after Gonsalves, Littell deserves more consideration as depth SP before Slegers.
  19. Nary a mention of Chris Carter signed to Rochester? Pretty significant low-risk lotto pick/insurance policy. Goodbye, Kennys Vargas.
  20. It's sad to think that Kirilloff might have accomplished the A-level dual progression last year and instead in 2018 at the tender age of 20 be among the terrific trio in Chattanooga knocking on the MLB door of the offensively-challenged Twins roster.
  21. Trevor May seems most likely going to be taking Lynn's spot in the rotation, probably based on if he does well tomorrow night for Rochester.
