  1. Yep. IMO, besides Wade, this is the Twin MiLB story of the day. I had completely forgotten about this 2016 5th round pick. Two years in GCL, only 2 appearances this year, the club seems to be really protecting this mystery Canadian. An 11/0 K/BB game in his first A level start- and still only 19 years old in the ML... It all really begs for a "what's up with this kid!?" story!
  2. Dozier 0/4 2Ks Sano 1/4 3Ks LaMarre 0/3 3 Ks Adrianza? PH for LaMarre? This team needs new hitters that can make contact and recognize pitches- STAT!
  3. Bold call to move Larnach immediately to the #8 spot. He definitely crushed an opposite field home run last night. Does he go through the typical Twins developmental channel of: 1) Full season of E-Town in 2018 2)Starts in Cedar Rapids in 2019, and promoted to Ft Myers at the halfway point if he proves himself? Alternative- He's already proven himself in the wood bat Cape Cod League. How about starting him immediately at Cedar Rapids- or better yet- Ft Myers and have him hit right after Lewis and Kiriloff in the Miracle batting order?
  4. Not me. If he can sustain anywhere near the level of hitting as he has in last 100 PAs- OPS @ 1.052- over the next 1-2+ months, he has earned, and should, get the promotion to AAA. He came to the Twins with the nearly-MLB ready bat label. The last month seems to have confirmed that assessment. The only question now is: How well does his current hitting play at the next level?" Remember, he was a red-shirt junior. He turns 24 in November. The sooner he is evaluated for a possible contribution in 2019, the better. The Twins obviously need a RH power bat, and Mauer's health condition and expiring contract opens up significant consideration for options at 1B, as well as DH or OF.
  5. Yep, maybe. Important to note that Toronto has two other 1st round pick catchers due to come up either in 2018 or 19. I guess it comes down to their willingness to trade off a near-ready catcher for near ready pitching. I would expect that they would covet some of the Twins pitching prospects.
  6. Give up some pitching prospect(s) for 23 year old Danny Jansen @ AAA with the Blue Jays? BA .323 and OPS .919 in 61 AAA games.
  7. Yep. That's who I assumed the article was about. How did Nick miss this?
  8. When the normally conservative Seth Stohs has you on the triple-level fast-track trajectory this year, and compares him as favorably superior to the Twins #1 pitching prospect, you gotta believe this kid really will be in the Twins rotation by the All Star break in 2019. And... it doesn't hurt his chances in Graterol having his TJ surgery already well out of the way, either.
  9. Is Ryan Jeffers the reincarnation of Bill Paxton? "Game over, man! Game over!" (Jeffers interview after a two-run walk-off 13th inning homer vs. Coastal Carolina).
  10. I am hoping for some Gonsalves-type coming up in the next couple picks. So far, not too impressed.
  11. Yep. That's my problem. This pick seems clearly not to be BPA. On the surface, this pick seems like Daniel Palka regret redux. Perhaps the braintrust is contemplating changing the configuration in RF @ Target Field in the years ahead... with a bevy of thumping LH bats and a couple RH bats like Sano with the power to poke the outside pitch just enough over an extended overhang in RF?
  12. It is nice to see consistent, solid improvement both in NCAA and Cape Cod production.
  13. Both look like excellent 4th OF types. The good thing is, if they both keep playing well, the Twins can have the luxury of time with Buxton in rehab, completely healing his foot and in the process fixing that long swing hitch and lack of pitch recognition.
  14. The turnaround has to start somewhere. So far, it looks like this might be it. Dozier and Sano have come back to life. Morrison has come back from the dead, Grossman is OPSing about 1.000 this week, LaMarre's insertion in CF has eliminated an automatic out at the bottom of the order. Time to clean up on the White Sox with a sweep and finish off the homestand with a series win over the Angels and put the last putrid months in the rearview mirror.
  15. Good point on Lynn and Morrison. It was just a couple weeks ago that the pitchfork crowd were calling for them to be DFAd. RPs all go through bad stretches. The difference this year in the pitching corps is that there are now multiple fixes soon ready to plug the holes. For example, how about going the Cardinals route with some of the prospects and make a starter into a temporary relief specialist, especially if they are on limited inning counts? Even May and Santana could relieve. And there are already rumblings that Pineda might be back for the stretch run...?? Busenitz... Curtiss...
  16. It's happening... Only 2 down in the loss column to the Indians! And Cleveland came to town on a hot streak. All the doomsdayers about the Twins offensive woes are all ducking for cover today. Eddie is willing this team to stop feeling sorry for themselves and reach for more. (If I were Twins management, I'd make sure to provide airfare and passes for as many games as Eddie's family cares to see).
  17. Yep. Littel is the hotter arm of the 3. You can't tell me that Gonsalves' and May's recent struggles didn't play at least a small part in the decision. It still leaves a question mark on if Slegers "passed the test" or not vs. KC? Good point on May. Who will be moving down? Magill? Is Bencomo a legit call-up or just emergency depth?
  18. I'm not sure we can say that with positive certainty. This game is rescheduled from early April. The fact is, Gonsalves has been a little shaky after his first two dominant AAA starts. If the Twins thought he was next up they could have adjusted the rotation schedule for him to pitch Tuesday on normal rest vs. today with Rochester.
  19. I said "basically" normal rest. Both the Twins and Rochester are off on Monday. Unless he's injured, he will be starting Tuesday night for Rochester on his normal turn (with an off day).
  20. Wrong again. What you asserted is simply not true. Romero has already been rewarded for his success at Rochester. And, as I noted before, besides Slegers, Littell has now leapfrogged over Slegers and 3 other SPs that have had either proven major league experience and/or some current or prior success at Rochester. Namely, May, Mejia and Gonsalves. Make no mistake, this is a huge opportunity and a vote of confidence for Littell, the youngest SP in AAA for the Twins.
  21. That's what is most surprising. Slegers seemed to have "passed the test" vs. the Royals- his "long stint" was only 5.1 IP and 83 pitches, and he would basically be pitching with his normal days off.
