In the segment, Falvey shared some of his objectives for improving the team at the upcoming trade deadline. According to Falvey, he intends to "fortify the middle of" the bullpen.     Minnesota Twins' President of Baseball Operations Derek Falvey recently appeared on MLB Network Radio's "Front Office" podcast.     I highly doubt we'll get swept by both Chicago and Detroit. I doubt we lose to the Raiders. The Chargers are beatable as long as they have Staley. With Rodgers out of Green Bay I could see the Vikings beating them twice, especially given the game at Lambeau is in late October and not in January. Also I didn't know that we can lose a game during a bye week.

    I have no idea what the hell this team is. They're 6-4 combined this season against Houston and New York, yet they're 4-6 combined against Washington, Chicago, and Miami. Can someone explain this to me?

    If Lopez amasses 9.2 total WAR over the next four years, or an average of 2.3 WAR per year, this contract will be worth it. He had 2.8 WAR last year and will only improve, as he is 27 years old. Never thought I would see the day. Not only did the Twins sign a starting pitcher to a major multi-year deal, but the deal itself was a hell of a good one.

    There wasn’t much that I took away from this one. The only minor thing that I took away is that the Twins offense could struggle until those currently on the injured list heal and produce.

    I was unfortunately unable to catch this game live but I kept track of the score on the MLB app. For starters, Pablo Lopez looked great. I’m not going make any declarations after one game (trust me, I know better than that) but I think he’ll be a solid component of our rotation this year. My only critique is not directed at Lopez but rather Baldelli. Lopez was dealing and had thrown only 85 pitches. Why yank him in that situation? I love the potential this pitching staff has but it will struggle if the starting pitchers cannot consistently pitch six innings. On the other hand, the offense scored 2 runs on 9 hits. That is a trend that has been constant throughout the Baldelli-era, and it annoys me to hell and back. If this team is to score more than 3 runs per game in the postseason, they must improve in this regard. Will this team get better or worse as the season plays out? We all hope the former.

    It should surprise nobody that Chris Archer and Dylan Bundy remain unsigned. The decision by Falvine to rely on those two was bound to go wrong. Sanchez may have been below average as a hitter, but he could at least hit the ball hard and actually draw walks. Baseball Savant doesn’t have all the same percentile rankings for Sano, but I can confidently state that, throughout 2022, his lineup spot looked something like this:
