  1. Looked at the "future radar" and it looks like it could be like Wednesday night . About an 8 p.m. start.
  2. You're a lot meaner than I am:
  3. Just looked at your weather -- total rain. Green, yellow. Ugh.
  4. Pouring rain here. I'm about 250 miles away and rain often moves northeast so get this game on and done!
  5. Loved the opening - a list within a list!!! The Blue Jays always scare me -- the real ones fly into windows -- and their namesakes seem to fly their hits into the seats. Strike 'em out, tonight, Trevor!
  6. From the album: General

  7. I don't expect them to be giddy. I do expect them to be courteous. Keith Law is just rude. Not just to the Twins but to his fellow panelists.
  8. As a counterpoint from the "Homer Side", Bollinger posted this today and makes some reasonable points: http://m.twins.mlb.com/news/article/127215472/clutch-hitting-at-center-of-twins-emergence FWIW, other than the opening Schtick, I didn't find the Grantland writer's points very offensive or off-base. On the other hand, my blood about boils when I hear Keith Law -- according to him, nothing matters but what he has been predicting based on the numbers (and basically he thinks the Twins will fall flat on their faces.) I'm sorry, but I do believe that a change in leadership and in clubhouse atmosphere can have an impact -- an impact that is hard to measure but an impact nevertheless. It's why baseball is played on the field and not on computer screens.
  9. I'm sure the writer believes his introductory paragraphs were clever .... they weren't.
  10. RandBall ‏@RandBall · 16m16 minutes ago #mntwins have scored 103 runs in innings 1-3 this year and 105 in innings 4-9
  11. Happy for him. Over the next few years, we are going to have to get used to a number of ex-Twins finding success elsewhere. The key question is whether the Twins are also successful.
  12. To show you how old, I am, I have always remembered this quote from a story about Steve Prefontaine. I think it was before his death but it could have been when he died. I believe it was in Sports Illustrated and I believe it was from The Brothers Karamazov. To paraphrase: Let us remember how good it was once here - when we were all together - united by a good and kind feeling that made us, better perhaps, than we are.
  13. "Enjoy the ride!" That's really the key, isn't it. Twins fans have had so little to cheer about the last few years. If one is to believe many (most?) of the national pundits, the Twins have achieved this record through smoke and mirrors and it is all going to collapse sooner rather than later. That's even more reason to "Enjoy the Ride!" Sure, we may get disappointed but at least we will have lived in the moment and enjoyed the Twins' success. There is nothing to be gained by taking an "it can't last" outlook. If I get my heart broken, it'll mend and I'll come back next spring with hope and optimism in my heart. But if the pundits are wrong and the Twins keep achieving, I want to make sure that I'm enjoying every moment of the journey.

    Standings

    From the album: General

  15. Yankees beat Royals, 4-2. TWINS tied for 1st. (I didn't think I'd ever get to type that this season.)
  16. And now a day off to rest the BP. Couldn't be better.
  17. Even the Tigers are happy for the Twins Hah!
  18. You said that one other day but on that day I noticed that the Twins were indeed wearing unis with pinstripes (at least on TV) so maybe they haven't totally done away with them. Edit: Sorry, should have said "Somebody" instead of you.
  19. I hope Duensing can settle in because I think the Twins will be slow to give up on him. (Generally, not just this game).
  20. Nice to see the bottom of the line-up coming through!!
  21. Gee, thanks, Chief. Now that I've read my twitter feed, I see it was a no-doubter. Good for him!
