  1. From the Boston radar, it looks like the rain may clear and the Twins and Red Sox will play tonight. In past years, I'd be ho hum ..... now I'm eagerly anticipating tonight's game.
  2. Thanks, everybody for making this an enjoyable thread even without a game last night.
  3. They look like they are having FUN and that increases my enjoyment of their performance.
  4. Always get you down???
  5. When I first got a VCR about 30 years or so ago, my first two video rentals were "White Christmas" (still have to watch it annually) and "Damn Yankees". Wish I could be at the Ordway on the 18th. "You Gotta Have Heart" could be the theme of this year's Twins although I hope they haven't made the deal that was made in the musical. EDIT: As I think about it, that is a perfect theme song for Torii Hunter: You gotta have heart, All you really need is heart, When the odds are saying You'll never win, That's when the grin should start!
  6. I wondered about that, too. The only thing I can see it affects is the schedule this weekend and early next week. But Berardino also points out that they need to figure out what to do about Nolasco's next startl. Milone pitched on Saturday so he isn't available until Thursday. They've got some sorting out to do and they need to make a decision on Ricky. The Twins don't have another scheduled off-day until Thursday, June 11.
  7. And to interpret this paragraph for you: Thought that this thread was going to derail. Then I read the Fangraphs article and realized the writer had his own derailment in the first paragraph. Which is too bad since the info on Brian Dozier is kind of interesting. I do not believe that he needed to bring up the Twins' ability to sustain their performance. It did not add anything to the article and was a disservice to Brian Dozier. It very well may have had the effect of turning off some Twins fans before they even got to the part on Dozier. I consider that unfortunate.
  8. No, I thought it was fine. I just thought he could talk a little bit more about how aggressive Dozier has been. To me, that is one of the major differences in the team's outcomes -- scoring early (and preferably often). I know his main focus was on Dozier's "pull" statistics but to me his aggressiveness this season is a major part of his story.
  9. I think part of the "luck" has been created by the Twins aggressiveness especially in the early innings. I'm not sure how that aggressiveness figures into the statistics or into how it disheartens the opponent.
  10. Thought that this thread was going to derail. Then I read the Fangraphs article and realized the writer had his own derailment in the first paragraph. Which is too bad since the info on Brian Dozier is kind of interesting. I hadn't really noticed that he was "pull happy" although I did notice those balls going out to left field. His ;line drive HRs into the left field stands at TF have been things of beauty as have his doubles off the wall. The writer mentions his agressive approach but doesn't really note how aggressive Dozier has been in the early innings. He has really been the sparkplug in early inning scoring.

  12. Don't know who is doing the game thread but they'll need to save it. Tonight's game is already postposted to a split doubleheader on Wednesday. 12:35 6:06 Berardino is speculating on pitchers. http://blogs.twincities.com/twins/2015/06/01/twinsights-rain-causes-postponement-wednesday-doubleheader/
  13. I read the article this morning when Nick tweeted a link. It struck me as more positive than the previous fangraphs article so I felt like it was a step in the right direction. And someone (either the article, a commenter or Nick) pointed out the Twins "Base Runs" went up fairly significantly in May -- not enough to take away the "luck" allegations but enough to temper them a bit. And again, it doesn't matter what it says on paper. It only matters what the scoreboard says at the end of each game. And so far, I like what I'm seeing.
