  1. Well, the way Willingham is going, Bartlett won't be very busy in that scenario.
  2. On the bright side, Correia having another pretty nice outing (so far). After last year, though, I still don't think we can judge how the pitchers are doing until they hit the 5th & 6th.
  3. I imagine Diamond's agent is working the phones.
  4. The Twins should get a handicap. They shouldn't have to get the runner to home to score, just to 3rd. It probably wouldn't change that many results -- but it would make it a lot more fun to watch.
  5. According to Twitter Land, this is very unpopular with the execs of other clubs. Maybe Mike Illitch is trying to reduce the value of the club for estate tax purposes.
  6. Lackey's ERA this spring is 7.31. Shouldn't the Twins be able to get at least 1 or 2???
  7. Never had an open face tuna sandwich on a rusk bun slid under the broiler??? I haven't had one since I was a kid but I think it had something to do with "cream of" soup instead of mayo.
  8. Thanks ChiTown and RB and SSof1. It doesn't work barefoot either. Maybe I should just paint my feet ruby-colored??? Been there, done that but now I kind of want a tuna sandwich and I don't have any tuna in the house. Oh, well.
  9. Since Nick Nelson hasn't posted here, I'll share a series of tweets from him: Nick Nelson ‏@nnelson9 14m Ultimately it's a lot of hand-wringing over what should be a little-used last spot on bench, but Twins' evaluation of Bartlett baffles me. Has shown no ability to hit in 4 years, hasn't played any OF in his career, but he's a good utility man because he's an "athlete"? Huh? Bartlett may have athleticism/aptitude to play all 3 OF spots, but has literally zero professional experience playing any of them in 12 yrs. I wasn't any huge fan of Presley, but it's not like he's unathletic. He's 6 years younger. And he has actually hit in the majors lately.
  10. Pinto, Hicks, Escobar. That's it for me. I suppose you could include Dozier in that group but he'll be 27 in May and Florimon turned 27 in December. Still don't seem like young players to me but I guess that "young" is in the eye of the beholder.
  11. I'm happy for Colabello but he isn't a "kid". He's 30. He seems younger because he hasn't been in mlb much but he's really a place filler. I am, however, very happy for him that he's able to live his big league dream for now.
  12. Huh? http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/brucespringsteen/glorydays.html
  13. geez, jokin, you're doing the Twins thing of back to the future. It's a good post, though, worth reading twice. And PLEASE let there be a move or two still coming.
  14. The thing that makes me happiest here is that Chris Colabello will get to start the season with the team. He took a big risk by not accepting the contract in Korea. I'm glad that he'll be able to realize his big league dream (at least for now). Best "feel good" story of the Spring even if it doesn't really move the Twins into a better future.
  15. While I don't believe that the presence of Kubel and Bartlett wlll actually sell any tickets, I can set an entire ad campaign to Springsteen's "Glory Days". Can't get it out of my head.
  16. LOL, one of the mods told me this a.m. that I was levelheaded. This one just made me lose it. I had resigned myself to watching 1 of the Jasons this season. I just can't fathom both of them making this team. I'm waiting for some more rosters moves in the near future.
  17. This is NOT about who they cut. This is about who they ADDED. Do ANY of you really believe that if this organization did not have a prior relationship with Kubel and Bartlett, they would have added them to this roster???? This is about trying to sell tickets based on past glory. And trying to give a manager what he wants because he has a relationship with these veterans. It is all about the PAST not the future.
  18. It's official: Dustin Morse ‏@Twins_morsecode 4m Jason Bartlett has made the team. He will serve as a super utility. #MNTwins And it IS insane. I can only think this means that Gardenhire is under a heck of a lot of pressure to win this year. Makes me want to barf.
  19. Mastroianni is still stashed at Rochester, right? I suppose that is some potential back-up should there not be anything else in the works.
  20. Gotta hope that is what is going on. Twitter world seems to think that very few OF will be available on waiver wire. OTOH: LaVelle E. Neal III ‏@LaVelleNeal 2m Heard rumblings earlier this week that Bartlett was going to make the team. The Presley move suggests this is happening.
  21. From Berardino: With those moves, it appears the final roster spot will go to either veteran super utility man Jason Bartlett or 30-year-old slugger Chris Colabello, the reigning International League Most Valuable Player. http://blogs.twincities.com/twins/2014/03/27/twinsights-chris-parmelee-alex-presley-also-placed-on-waivers/ Maybe there is still something else in the works.
  22. Mike Berardino ‏@MikeBerardino 9m In addition to Diamond, Chris Parmelee and Alex Presley also placed on waivers. All 3 waiver periods expire today, per source. #mntwins I would guess this means that Parmelee also cleared. And I would LIKE THE FOLLOWING from Nick Nelson a gazillion times: Nick Nelson ‏@nnelson9 3m Parmelee also on waivers. The Twins waived Presley and Parmelee to keep 34-year-old Jason Bartlett on the roster. That's freaking insane.
  23. I have found the list of Twins uniform numbers from baseball reference very helpful on this thread. http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/MIN/uniform-numbers.shtml While I might not always recognize the picture at first, I can usually put a name with the face once I've skimmed through the list of guys who've had the number.
  24. I'm surprised by this too. On another waiver front (and because I don't want to start another thread), Diamond and Parmelee were also on waivers. Diamond cleared. Haven't seen anything about Parmelee.
