Rush him? I'd say this would not be rushing him. The Twins have some belief they're in the hunt. So they hang onto Mike Pelfrey, Kevin Correia, which slows down moving up Meyer/Mays, which slows down AA promotions, which slow down... Trickle down effect, Twins style. Rushing someone would be putting Stewart at Hi-A in the 2nd half.

Twins will probably be "in on" Shields this offseason,much like all the other pitchers they pursue. And will wind up overspending on underwhelming talent. Until the house is cleaned, suffering is nearly unbearable. My favorite team stinks AGAIN.

Get something for a guy who fell apart and lost confidence in MN. Probably gave up hope in trying to re-build himself. That cash will help later in the year when TField attendance continues its drop.

If I had to guess right now, I think I'd say that if Parmelee wins right field, the bench is Escobar, Mastroianni, Fryer and ... let's go with Bartlett. Easily THE WORST bench in baseball.
