    Well, Cleveland won’t gain on us today. I know it’s awfully early and probably ridiculous to worry about that. Louis came back and struck two guys out with the basis loaded. Oh, and I hate Cleveland.!

    Varland about to blow a save against Cleveland in Toronto. Loaded the bases in the ninth and allowed one run with just one out so far.

    It’s not always best to have a running start with that throw Home from the outfield. It can cause them to overthrow the ball. It doesn’t necessarily help to make it more on target. Being able to get set and have a good base is also quite effective especially for shorter throws IMHO

    I agree he needed to dive for that thing and still keep it in front of him. He had no time to throw that runner out even with a good throw. That of course he didn’t make.

    So Rogers doesn’t get either of the left handers that he faces, and leaves with one of them on base and lucky that the other one was picked off.

    I wish Luke would show some patience in these situations. He always swings at the first pitch it seems, and normally it’s not productive.
