  1. You need to work with jinx-boy to help show him how it's done.
  2. He had a good run. The moderators will shut down his account and share in a moment of silence out of respect.
  3. We are currently experiencing Maximum Kepler.
  4. Adrianza in for Castro. Now this aspect of positional flexibility I am 100% behind!
  5. I had to look it up too. Should have been easier than it was, at least for me.
  6. Horsing around in a game thread. As expected.
  7. Every time Marwin is given a chance to impress me with his positional flexibility... he doesn't. He's a third baseman.
  8. Yeah, this might be the game to show a skeptic who you are trying to convince to be a fan.
  9. Warning track power for the Twins. Next guy who hits a double needs to do some pushups on the base to strengthen up.
  10. I've played some of that style in my day (the Quicksteps, for anyone in the Twin Cities who might happen to know the team), and I completely concur about the change from my accustomed slow-pitch to regulation basepaths. I felt like I was running in molasses - "are we there yet?" Fielding is also an adjustment. I have a terrible arm, and one of my shining lifetime accomplishments was a solitary routine 5-3 putout when pressed into emergency duty at third base on a 90-foot diamond for that team. I don't know who was more shocked, me or the first baseman. No wait, it was definitely me.
  11. I've heard that said. Haven't see an inning there yet. But the way he's butchered plays twice in short duty in RF that I've been witness to caught me by surprise based on the LF reputation.
  12. Dick: Sano digs for second. Me: Yeah, he managed to leg out a triple standing up at second.
  13. Did you do it in a TD game thread? Didn't count. The jinxes are real here.
  14. Davies' command is way off, too many times. Hope that bodes well.
  15. IMO he was aware, and that's why he missed the ball by inches to one side. If the park were abnormally large he might very well have caught it. His ability to track a fly ball is unexcelled. Interesting thought - given the way he hit the wall and how the glove went flying, if he HAD gloved the ball, it might have popped out and gone over the fence for a homer.
  16. Have you WATCHED Marwin in right? (Although, if you mean Eddie to center and keep Max in right, I wouldn't disagree.)
  17. I hope Castro was making good use of the long delay, to talk with Smeltzer and keep him focused.
  18. Not even a word of contrition for the jinx?
  19. First batter K is a nice start to Smeltzer's career.
  20. Managers like their 13-man pitching staffs. Maybe with the off-days Rocco is willing to let go the safety blanket. I guess I just discount that possibility. If Smeltzer goes down, Thorpe or somebody comes up. It comes down to minor-league options remaining for the player. Adrianza has none. In general you do the reversible move, before you do an irreversible one.
  21. My take is pretty simple, in comparison to what I'm reading here. I don't believe today's pitching moves have much to do with the position players. Ehire stays. When Nelson comes off the IL, Luis goes down. When Mitch is ready for duty behind the plate, Willians goes down. If Mitch happens to be ready first, you could send either one down, and then the other afterward.
