  1. You can see his batting average from outer space, that's how small it is.
  2. OK. Please keep posting these. These are great reads.
  3. It takes an extreme case like Carlos Gomez to make me think it's an issue at all anymore. Plus, a franchise getting a reputation for jerking its young stars around may find it suddenly more difficult to sign the guys they draft.
  4. Or, he's seeing them but lays off because they are invariably out of the strike zone. I think this had something to do with Aaron Hicks taking called third strikes earlier this month - "oh? they can DO that?"
  5. I was with you up to the very end of your sentence but now I'm confused again.
  6. Because you are astute. (And the world needs more stutes.)
  7. "Sorry son, you only struck out 35 times all season; we're having you repeat Cedar Rapids next season."
  8. Neither does Revere and it hasn't held him back any.
  9. Thursday April 25 was a good night for Joe. The team won 10-7, and Joe scored 4 of those runs. He went 2-for-4 including a triple, a single, a fielder's choice and a strikeout, plus a walk and a stolen base; Doug Bernier going 5-for-5 behind him had a lot to do with pushing him along to score each time he was on. Joe's batting average is up to .182 now.
  10. Because the word "then" is unnecessary, your sentence flows better without it.
  11. Or in other-other words, "they go with what they've got". For better, or for worse. I'm hoping for better, of course.
  12. I would hope that, in the unlikely event Carroll read my post, he would understand the word Grandpa to be a term of endearment, probably like he hears every day from his teammates. But from Plouffe's perspective it has to seem a bit surreal to be pinch-run for by a guy >10 years older than himself. And from my perspective as a fan, it's part of what makes the game great, the mix of skills that come together to make a team.
  13. There's no question in my mind that Mauer's been on a HOF track since nearly the get-go. I think this article cherry-picks a little and overstates some things, which is not necessary to establish his credentials. Here's my Ode To Joe: Roses are red Violets are blue I like Joe And so should you
  14. That wish could come true, as it could easily come to pass that no other game is close.
  15. Annnnnd... another rally avatar fails to come through in the clutch. I'll keep looking.
  16. Second time this season I recall Plouffe being pinch-run for by Grandpa. Must be galling.
  17. Plouffe singled. I'm going on a hunch and bringing in the Snorg T girl for a rally avatar.
  18. This Nathan guy is good. Have the Twins looked into trading for him?
  19. I have yet to find a reliable one. The victory avatar disappointed in an earlier audition. I'm sticking with my starter tonight.
  20. Could be cheaper than you intended, if that's how it plays out in the bottom of the 9th.
  21. Fien in to face the righty. Gardy wants to pull this game out if they can.
  22. It takes two bench slots to cover for questionable talents at SS, but I like this aspect of the roster. Wilkin contributed and now Eduardo finishes the game. Works for me.
  23. Morneau/Parmelee/Plouffe in the 9th. Each has gotten a hit - nobody is due. Yeah, the 8th might have been the moment, I'm afraid.
