  1. I'm willing to learn, if you think there is something that we do not accept or understand about Iglesias's bilateral tibial stress fracture.
  2. Fair enough. Though, if we need 3-4 middle innings of relief twice a week or so, Deduno will find himself in the rotation again.
  3. Good point, and my kindergarten batting analysis above would probably pertain only against righties. I went and looked up his splits, and in 2013 his BABIP against lefties was just shy of astronomical, .373. Is that at all worrisome? Against lefties it's always SSS, and his 2012 split went the other way for BABIP, so I guess it's not much of an issue - still, I am not sure if his L/R split can be trusted implicitly.
  4. Said, every manager ever born. Love it.
  5. The long man role has an element as a fireman coming in with men on base. He might let too many inherited runners score while he gets comfortable, then go on to shut them down for some innings with the damage already done. OTOH the setup role won't let him get enough innings to really make a mark. And the long man is often the swing man for the odd start here and there. A dilemma.
  6. He can hit homers if the pitch is in a certain place, but when the pitchers stopped pitching there a while back he has been unable to adjust in a way to punish their adjustment. If he did find such an adjustment, it probably wouldn't lead directly to home runs, but (say) beaucoup singles hit the opposite way plus a ton of walks. Only at that point would the pitchers come in again to give him what he actually wants. That would be an equilibrium that I don't think would approach the power numbers we saw in that one magical time period; but it would be highly valuable, either to this team or in trade to another. The question is whether or when he will find the adjustment, but it's been the question for a season and a half now.
  7. baseball-reference.com has Spring stat totals for players, right on their main player page. And you can find these total also for the full team via a link on their main page, namely: http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/MIN/2014.shtml I don't recall whether I've run across a repository of individual game boxscores, but maybe the above is more what you want anyway. This is only for the major league ST games, not the minor league games on the back fields. But those stats are suspect anyway (as Thrylos said while I was composing this) because of the loose nature of those games - another example is an inning may come to a halt with men on base because the team's pitcher reached his pitch count limit.
  8. A mention was just made on the telecast of today's game, that he has cleared.
  9. Haven't seen much mention of Dozier lately. His BA is down to .211 in the 7th inning, that after a blazing start in ST. Any concerns?

  11. A power of 10. Appropriate. [/geek]
  12. I had already clicked Like on it - no misunderstanding on that count. I can't recall anyone ever earning one single infraction point for something said in a game thread. It would be possible, if someone failed to understand the spirit here and decided to repeatedly be obnoxious.
  13. This is Gibson's age-26 season. Give him slack for the surgeries, but still, they're not exactly pushing the calendar to give him his chance (again) with the big club.
  14. Zero tolerance on what is stated in the Comment Policy about these game threads, I suppose. Not Okay: hurtful posts, blatant rule violations, or being a grouch. Said with a smile, obvii.
  15. (Borrowing ChiTown's camera for this.)
  16. You missed balls going for a ride to the deep outfield. Pretty tedious after the first several.
  17. He still has another start in ST, to work on that facet of the game.
  18. Dick'n'Bert debating whether the Mets catcher blocked the plate too much according to the new rules. Guess Teagarden didn't lift his pinkie finger, like at a tea party, or tip his helmet to the runner, thus showing his lack of couth.
  19. In a game thread? You jest. / which, I guess, is 100% OK, come to think of it
  20. Without going through the work of looking at the teams lacking a player higher on the list, I would guess that most have part-timers or near-ready prospects they like as well as or better than acquiring our guy. I wouldn't see anyone offering much for Plouffe, a fringe prospect at most.
  21. Whoosh! Sorry, missed that.
  22. Twins missed their chance to get something in return for Fein by trade, IMO.
  23. Usually I think of someone "latching on" when he's a free agent. Semantics, I guess.
  24. Bad form to put in a guy who is on waivers. What if he gets injured right when another team is claiming him... Not sure it's even allowed, actually. He's DFA, so technically I'm not sure if he's in major league camp anymore or what.
