  1. Just got here, what are we talking about?.............not baseball I take it.
  2. Was there for the series this weekend as well, couldn't agree more, Arcia was the main attraction for me. If nothing else, his bat needs to stay in the lineup every game from here on out. I swear if I see Willingam and Doumit in the outfield together when Hammer comes back and Arcia sitting.......I'm going to yell loudly at my computer....by myself....again!
  3. Chief's right, the team earned the shutout, Albers did his part. Everything else is sentimentality and feigned outrage.
  4. So.....who's the new whipping boy? Going to be a dearth of good jokes now that "Son of Sal" has left us. Goodbye old friend.
  5. This has been discussed ad naseum, yes Liriano is having some success, he had success under Anderson as well. Let's keep in perspective that he's pitched 76 innings in the National League, we'll see what happen after another trip or two around the league. It was also noted by another poster that the over reliance on the slider led to Liriano's previous arm problems. I'm no Anderson fan by any means but this one isn't on him IMHO.
  6. Just because the physical nature of the games differ, does not make the situations any different. Wanting to be the guy is the same thing, down by a run with 2 outs in the 9th, you want to be the guy at the plate, down by a goal with less than a minute to play, you want to be on the ice, down by a TD late in the 4th quarter, you want to have the ball in your hands. These are all one in the same, it's mental, not physical. Great leaders relish the challenge, they don't always succeed, I think Mauer is likely one of those guys, he's too good an athlete not to be.
  7. As far as the type of game, sure, but effective leadership traits are analogous in all team sports.
  8. 1. Mauer is the only guy deserving of extra time off because at this point he's the only MLB player on the team. 2. Who knows if anyone would ask, assuming most of them are decent human beings who love their families, I think they might. I don't think any Twins player thinks the season is meaningless, especially Mauer but in perspective with one's family, it definitely is, especially for a couple of lousy extra days.
  9. I had my kids at home, the last place my wife wanted to be was in a hospital. Obviously not an option in this case due to the early delivery.
  10. I disagree and my experience has been quite the opposite. The hockey world is full of them, including the captain of the most recent Stanley Cup champions. I do agree that a team is better off with a mix of those personalities however.
  11. Just like Andy drew it up...
  12. "I'm sorry, I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about, you'll have to ask the dog"
  13. Hey Andy, what were you playing again, Titleist 4?
  14. What the hell!? In the middle of a pennant race!...............no...wait.
  15. "F***, I'm never drinking vodka again, did I give that stripper my phone number?"
  16. Line crossed....door open.
  17. Fiendi.........sh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahahahahahaha!!!!!
  18. Hey, I was just stating a fact, don't know where your mind is at....sheesh.
  19. Thanks, I'll be here all week.
