  1. Personally... I believe that getting back to .500 is getting back into contention. Once in contention... Anything can happen... If anything can happen... Excitement builds. Being out of it in July again is going to keep digging that hole that the youngsters will have to climb out of. Speaking for myself... I am for a balls out push to mediocrity. I just don't see any big tickets FA's who can do it. The 2012 team was inexperienced and it had no power... No speed... Set records in strikeouts and the pitching ranked last... And we had suspect defense at 3B, C with Doumit and the outfield corners. That's a bad combination of things. On top of that... I don't recall seeing pitchers pitch hard inside, catchers plowed at home, double plays broken up, Mauer stretching a double to a triple or Plouffe leaving his feet at the hot corner. So you can add uninspired play to the 2012 soup of defensive holes, no power, speed, pitching, youth and not making contact when you swing. The organization has decided not to change coaching... Well... then they have to change players. Mediocre or Bust!!!!! I Cry... Charge!!! Who's with me?
  2. I don't know but that TV deal could make this Friday night different than the others.
  3. What happens in Rice Lake Wisconsin. 1. When 30 people walk into the only liquor store at the same time. 2. There are only 20 cases of beer left in the entire store. 3. All the top brands of beer are gone 4. Half of the cases left are "Natural Light" "Milwaukee's Best" and "Michelob Ultra". 5. It's A Friday Night. AND... All 30 people got an extra 25 million dollars from a Rice Lake TV deal. I'm worried it might have an effect on the price of beer.
  4. I really need the like button... Besides... the like notifications are how I know when Glunn is around.
  5. Theres an "About Twins Daily Forum"?
  6. That button is mis-labeled. Using my I-Pad... I physically pushed the button with my finger and you know what it did? It it made the button larger. It zoomed in. The button should say "Make Larger"
  7. I agree that quotes are often stretched... pulled... twisted to match the readers particular minds eye. However... On the other side... Quotes are often carefully crafted by those being quoted and often end up being a false or incomplete impression of what is real behind the doors. I rarely trust quotes. I've been quoted... I've had to carefully choose the words I used to protect relationships and strategy and at the same time I've seen the context stripped away from my quotes and end up printed with a perception 10 miles from the truth without the surrounding context. In the end... The quotee... Can't be comprehensive... The quoter can't be comprehensive and nuance is hopelessly gone before it can even start. On top of that... The reader has varied levels of understanding and prejudice or even interest. Yeah... I rarely put trust in quotes. As a way of getting information.
  8. Like button... Bring it Back!!!
  9. Thanks for the link. I guess... You and I just read it different. You see a lot more in between those lines.
  10. I fully admit that I have no idea what is happening in the dugout and club house. And I believe that Seth has some idea. With that said... I agree with Thrylos here. The team 2013 was visibly flat on many levels. I recognize it. When I read that Joe is a quiet leader. It fits with what my eyes are seeing so I can go along with it. I could be wrong because I really have no way of gaining direct knowledge.
  11. Fair enough Sometimes I get the impression that some TD'ers judge pitchers like Arroyo in comparison to Kershaw instead of judged in comparison to someone like Hughes. Personally... I think Arroyo is an eye of the beholder thing. I like him better than Hughes. However... I want to be clear... I like Wacha better than Arroyo.
  12. Hey, Hammer... You know me... I'm not trying to be a prick... But can you point me to that quote. I hadn't seen it. If Ryan used those words publicly... That would be a mistake of poor salesmanship on his part. And I tend to defend Ryan. I'll forgive him but a mistake nonetheless.
  13. I want to replace #3... Throwing beer bottles was meh... I thought of something better. 3. Right Eye Wink... Is the indicator. Its not as good as #4 but an improvement over the original #3.
  14. Why can't you repress painful moments like the rest of us!
  15. Yeah... That's a good question. Do you have an answer for that Nick? Here are 10... Go ahead and pick one. 10. The mask was put on by Sam Deduno and all his control issues. 9. There is a 3 year old child in front of him and its a game of peek-a-boo 8. The mask comes with an ice pack and he has a toothache. 7. Pinto has pledged to wear his mask this way in protest of the like button disappearing from Twins Daily. 6. Mask and headgear was broken because of rough handling by UPS. 5. He was a victim of Incognito hazing. 4. It's AshburyJohns Fault. 3. Fans down the third base line were throwing beer bottles. 2. Nick Nelson asked for the pose as part of his new modern photo Art exhibition titled "Over Under Sideways Down". 1. The index finger on his right hand is his primary for nose picking. He just needs a place to flick.
  16. Yeah but... I'm not sure we had a better player to play instead... And we had a nice run of winning seasons with Punto playing a lot. Throw the stats out on Punto... He didn't hurt the Twins at all.
  17. Please forgive me... I'm sure you know... But I've been reading enough comments about the Twins not going for an ace. So to everyone... In my opinion... There is not an ace available in this free agent class. Tanaka maybe... I really don't know since his success was on a different continent. After that it's Garza... I don't think he's an ace. Kuroda is 39. The Twins will have to settle for mid rotation or lower down types like Arroyo. Trading for an ace will be impossible because our entire roster played themselves into low value and our prospects should be untouchable. Just wanted to point that out for no reason... Carry on.
  18. I like making fun of Nick Punto as much as anyone. Actually... I like making fun of everyone. However... 36 Years Old and The A's just signed him to a 3 Million dollar deal. For someone who was much maligned by Twins Fans and still is today apparently. He just signed another contract. He still has a major league job when so many others don't. And... He signed with another winning team. I think it's possible that we may have under-estimated Mr. Punto. Half Seriously and I stress Half Seriously... (I'm half serious... half the time)... Half Seriously... I also point out... That the Twins stopped winning the moment he left town.
  19. Reports are: "Joe is a quiet leader". I have no idea if that's true but I've read that over and over again from numerous sources. I assume that means that he is more adept at instructing mimes and chameleons.
  20. I'm so sexy... It... Hurts.
  21. Moderator Note: Drivlikejehu, I would have deleted your last post but since it was already quoted by Levi. It's kind of pointless to delete it now. I'd like to see the intensity go down a couple of notches in the discussion. U2 Levi.
  22. I agree... Parmelee should be given plenty of rope. The light bulb can always turn on for a player with potential and it doesn't always turn on right away. Colabello needs to stand closer to the plate and start turning on some balls. Colabello should be in Rochester again to figure that part out. His power could be a nice boost for a year or two... or five... if he can figure that out. Until then... I will remain weary.
  23. River and Brian should not be blocked? I agree... Yes... I'd bring in a 3B and it doesn't have to be a ton of money to do so. I just don't know who that guy is... Someone has to play the position if Plouffe... Plouffes it up in 2014 again. I'll take a D guy with no bat if Plouffe... Plouffes it up again. Anything is better than penciling him into the lineup everyday while he disappoints nearly every single day. Give me some competition for all positions.
  24. I hope Sano is really special and comes in mid-season and tears it up. He Might... He Might Not... What I want to see happen doesn't always match with the reality of what will happen. I'd rather not burn his MLB time watching him struggle... I don't want him learning while the Arb clock ticks... When Sano comes up... I want him to hit the ground running and provide a big boost ala Puig, Harper, Braun or Trout. If he's ready to do that out of Spring Training... Bring him on... If not... Let's wait.
