  1. And don't get me started about the flinging. Also, being a dog person, my hunch is that the cat started it, but my condolences anyway.
  2. Not as learned regarding teh cyberzmetric as many other TD posters, but figured it couldn't hurt to throw it out there. More fun with small samples: Mauer's ground ball rate is just 2% above his career rate, but his flyball rate is about 10% lower this year, while his line drive rate is about 10% higher. Don't know what that means, other than that like the swing/miss outside the zone thing, it's early in the season and it will even out eventually.
  3. Mauer's career swinging strike rate: 4.1%. 2013 rate: 8.6%. Even though swings that miss pitches in the zone seem much more frequent, there's only about a 2% increase from last year. It's the swings at pitches outside the zone that are killing him. He's only swinging at them about 3% more often, but missing them half again as often - 50% contact rate outside the zone this year vs. about 75% career. That seems like a huge fluke, and his numbers will improve as it evens out.
  4. I hear yah, but I'm good with too early instead of too late for a guy like Liam who needs a good outing to build his confidence.
  5. NP, and good work on your choice of visual.
  6. Hicksie dodges the sombrero, at least.
  7. ftfy. And I'm picturing Dick as the angry eyebrow dude on the right, what with his min-rants about the official scoring and umpiring so far. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mMBbwErd59k/Tnkxr0xXsII/AAAAAAAAAO8/FZ3dFxYavTo/s1600/article-1005361-00C3FFBE00000578-7_468x328.jpg
  8. Nah... he 'scattered 4 hits'. And if he gets a W it'll be because he's 'learning how to win'.
  9. 68%, 1.6 runs for loaded/1 out... And I would have taken the over with Hendricks on the mound. Well done, Liam.
  10. And on a night where I don't have DVR, of course. Thanks for the confirmation.
  11. Bases loaded and no outs, the average MLB, not AL, team scores an average of just under 2.4 runs in the inning, and scores at least once 88% of the time... so that was a... special sequence.
  12. Mauer's swing aimer is off kilter.
  13. Did the Twins hire Steve Trachsel as assistant pitching coach without making an announcement?
  14. +1. And down by four. Let's burn some outs!

  16. Important safety tip. Thanks, Egon.
  17. Ryan Doumit's eyes have a grizzly bear rug. The bear isn't dead, he's just afraid to move.
  18. Thank God. I was starting to think it was just me. And after reading that, I can't imagine seeing him or even reading his name without thinking "D cubed". Tell them it's worthy of a copyright.
  19. Hope you're right. And saints preserve you if you're wrong and a southpaw. Even at 76, Koenig is still devastating vs. LHP (left-handed pundits). Fangraphs had nothing on the kid from the movie, so you're on your own there. Live long and prosper.
  20. Without question. Also, he has that disturbingly large iris-to-white eye area ratio that Hollywood uses to let the audience instinctively know that someone has either become possessed or a zombie.
  21. Walter Koenig and Anton Yelchin dislike this.
