  1. Does getting up in time to inadvertently see the end count?
  2. Meanwhile on the bench, Hicksie quietly bides his time, plotting to slingshot past them in batting average, RBI, and hugs from Prince Fielder...
  3. Ramirez and Escobar, neck and neck for 2013 Twins MVP...
  4. The other diagnostic methods have failed the Twins frequently, so I'm thinking an ERA north of 7 may be the last instrument in the doctor bag for them.
  5. As pointed out on somebody's all time MLB ugly list, Mossi "looks like somebody microwaved John Kerry". He's even uglier in color if that's possible: http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/1448/mossi.jpg But not as ugly as a Vance Worley start, with or without blender.
  6. I liked your request to unlike your original, is that helpful in any way?
  7. In the long run, maybe it will. The odds that he's battling an injury are getting greater with each drubbing, and the sooner they figure it out and treat it the better off he'll be.
  8. Only if you have some sort of solution to help us uneat every Twinkie we've consumed in the past.
  9. Two words: The. Captain. http://0.media.sportspickle.cvcdn.com/92/65/aa9848dc08470b64c3cf231ad0bb37cd.jpg Nobody said anything about defining defensive ability with stats alone. But after years of Yankee propagandists talking up Jeter's mantle full of Gold Gloves, it would be nice to point to a reliable metric which makes a meaningful argument that they are full of crap.
  10. "Personally, I think we got hosed on that call." http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_fObSStlFSGg/SeO0deHFmtI/AAAAAAAADdU/WAnS5L8a5N8/s400/harry_doyle.jpg Willingham bails out the ump with the homer. That'll work.
  11. Good, it wasn't just me being a sore loser. Honest to God, you'd have thought by the call that Dick was the only guy in the stadium who knew some crazy secret that a can o' corn was going to score a run, like maybe top secret Twins nano-ninjas had tied Murphy's shoe laces together. Nobody lends utterly false drama to routine fly outs like Bremsie.
  12. I knew by the look in her eye that she wasn't really going to go there. Good try though.
  13. Dick is tangentially right about something, at least. If the guy who pinch runs for you is 39 years old, you're slow, Trevor. You're slow.
  14. Wish granted. Try to make the next one more productive, please.
  15. Yup, though I'm good with either. Some Fox kook had Ogie moving up into the low teens. Don't know about that, but he's a good value for a 25th pick, especially in a position of need. Edit. Whaaaa? We picked already? ESPN page is behind. Guess I'll read up on X man. We certainly needed help at corner, even before Winnie departed.
  16. Ok, if you say so, but I'm going to blame you if it doesn't work.
  17. That's just according to the great football minds at KFAN. Nobody else between us and the Bears is supposed to be in the market. Regardless of the accuracy of their predictions, I offered a similar prayer.
  18. Bears don't take imaginary girl friend guy, so he's pretty much a Viking.
  19. Either you kids settle down back there or I will turn the Family Truckster around and you can just wait until next summer to see Wally World.
  20. We're totally buyers at the deadline, though...
  21. Ron Gardenhire has won 2 post season games and lost 13 in the past decade, managing two almost entirely different rosters. Play whatever sun/eyes card you want, but at the end of the day, Ronny G is quietly amassing an historic record of futility in the postseason. And if that doesn't get everyone's Cooperstown juices flowing, there's always Gardy's relentless pursuit of the 'most career managerial ejections' mark to get fired up about. Have things not go your way. Throw a tantrum. Get the day off, with pay. As if I needed further proof I'm in the wrong line of work...
  22. Blue pill, red pill, whatever. If it helps me get the phrase "impact fracture to the testicle" out of my head, I'm totally on board. Even if the the possible side effects include dizziness, nausea, vomiting, messiah complex, night sweats, constipation, and the condition known as hotdog fingers...
  23. Obviously knowledge about a stat like WAR isn't critical to the daily tasks Anderson faces. But the fact that he's never heard of it, well, that's just sad. And it fits the gist of the article, which is that the Twins abhor statistical analysis but won't admit it. Yeah, sure, in a public relations gesture to the girlfriendless fantasy baseball losers who believe in that sort of nonsense, they've promoted a boy from the call center (with a business master's!) to a comically made-up position. In the opening paragraphs we learn that he's a apparently an introvert who is routinely and openly mocked by management. Terry "pretty darn good pitchers" Ryan goes on to fall all over himself defending Goin's crucial yet invisible role in front office decisions. But everything about the article screams that Goin is either unqualified or ineffectual. And holy crap, people are actually buying the inane 'I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you' bs about competitive advantage? Really?
  24. No need to imagine, Hollywood has already done that heavy lifting for us over 30 years ago. Fwiw, I imagine Gardy as The President and Punto as Snake Plissken ('I got ya, Skip!). Twins stat guy Jack Goin is Adrienne Barbeau, because the front office allegedly pays a lot of attention to him, yet nobody has any idea what he said. http://georgespigot.files.wordpress.com/2012/08/escape-from-new-york-02.jpg
