  1. More like half somerault and half Dizzy Izzy wipeout. Blaming Brewer roadblock. http://media.dma.mil/2011/Jul/29/148106/600/400/0/110729-M-0000M-008.jpg
  2. Based on the flight of the ball, my hope was for a stand-up single. Wow. What a weird but cool play. Can't believe Willi isn't hurt. Not because it looked bad, but because, Twins luck.
  3. Burrow is the hole they find your body parts in if you call your wife a burro.
  4. Two hundred former northern Wisconsin lumber mill employees?
  5. ESPN split page shows he's never exceeded 75 this season. Not sounding right to me.
  6. Still remember the time he saved Earth when Mars attacked. Also, re: Brewer homer... http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view6/4043309/mars-attacks-head-explode-2-o.gif
  7. Too bad MLB regs don't allow for the stadium audio system to crank up the buzz of a two-stroke enduro while he's chugging around bases...
  8. Especially with the lead and your starter having a great night... One of the most incredible non-Twins-related baseball moments burned into my memory happened after randomly surfing to the ESPN broadcast of Pedro Martinez' perfect game in Montreal just an inning or two before Reggie Sanders became my least favorite player in baseball for a while:
  9. http://www.subdude-site.com/WebPages_Local/RefInfo/Computer/WebDev/WebGraphics_Decopics/StillImgs/Scenes/MovieScenes/forrestGump_itHappensStickerOnPickup_big1280x720.jpg
  10. Good takes by Willi on 2-2 and 3-2 especially. Mauer's 4 pitch walk 5% less controversial.
  11. Finally. Was starting to think TD was down for most others again.
  12. HBP looks even worse in slo mo. It's the ripple of the jersey, maybe...
  13. There is a full EMS crew for Gardy just up the dugout tunnel, standing by in case Zukes grabs a quad after a slide...
  14. Those are guys who bat righty and throw left.
  15. Funny how that works. Unlike non-1b infielders, outfielders can throw left-handed without detriment. My guess is that since most natural lefty infielders are ambidextrous enough to throw righty, many are also able to switch hit. And baseball wisdom has traditionally valued switch-hitting middle infielders even more than other positions.
  16. That's some bat speed, turning on a good fastball that high... Arcia starting to make up for the disappointment of knowing we won't see Sano for a while longer.
  17. Love Dozey's baserunning, but he's lucky the OF didn't throw behind him. Is Ullger subbing for Vavra tonight?
  18. Somebody find Dozier some Ty Cobb spikes for his next slide...
  19. At least Dozier's spine absorbed some of the energy of the pickoff throw before it hit his helmet. And no, after Morneau and Mauer's concussions, that wasn't meant to be funny.
  20. Wasn't my fault. 0 for server-crashing .gifs tonight. So far.
  21. Willing to cut him just a little slack because of the fairly rare instance of a home and home, NL/AL series. It does highlight the contrast. That being said, yeah, way too much of it, and too early tonight. Was hoping to avoid it until we got into PH/RP territory, but no. And the next time he launches into an inning-long explanation of double switch strategy that sounds like an elementary school chess club teacher explaining en passant to the one kid who doesn't get it, the volume goes off.
  22. Thanks for another nice sterno log of wisdom and humor to get the game thread campfire going. With regard to which Nolasco shows up tonight, well, home/road splits are usually not a big deal for most players, and have more than a little SSS flakiness just two months into the system. That being said, there's a good chance of seeing Good Ricky instead of Evil Ricky tonight: Nolasco opposing hitters 2014... Home: .241/.283/.467 Road: .366/.418/.594 So at home, the average batter vs. Nolasco is Dozier minus some walks. On the road, the average hitter is... a first ballot Hall of Famer. Mauer 2009 minus some walks, I guess? Oh, and speaking of sterno logs, that warning label is bs. Burned one along with real logs in the fireplace once. No Chernobyl.
  23. On pace for 78 wins, 76 if you pythag it. Sounds about right. That's about 10 fewer losses than 2013, and a team that's in ball games noticeably more often than the 90+loss clubs, Moreover it's about what you'd expect from a team that brought in a pair of #3-ish starters to replace bad pitchers, but not much else, and has a balance that slightly favors players likely to improve as compared to those likely to decline or regress. It's also encouraging in light of the loss of value from Mauer with the move to first and his struggles at the plate.
  24. Once drove nearly 30 miles without Gladden mentioning the score. And no, wasn't doing 200 mph.
  25. Extra guy in the video booth usually turns out to be somebody whose input is like someone mumbling out random numbers while you're preparing a tax return. Extra guy in the radio booth is like a passenger screaming at you while you're driving. Anyway, Gladden is a likeable dual championship Twin, which puts him in elite company. There is no other reason why his ramblings about the Twins are broadcast, let alone bought and sold.
