    Conversely, it's been fairly easy to measure how much less enjoyable the past few seasons of the current Twins have been without participating in game threads. Thanks to the TD'ers who make it work, especially the mods, and ChiTown and Riverbrian in particular for making sure that each thread starts with at least one reason to smile about every Twins game, especially since the games themselves often didn't come close to one.

    It could have been the end of Swarzak as a Twin. Not because this start didn't go well, but because it means he won't pitch again this year, and his future as a Twins reliever has been in doubt due to his impending arb payday and the number of younger, cheaper, higher upside alternatives the Twins believe and we hope are on the way.

    Me too, but luckily the cup was the approximate size and weight of a goldfish bowl. On the way home tonight certain stars seemed to be in a very unusual alignment, but a quick check of the box score revealed that it was probably due to it being a night where Vargas drew a walk. Kidding aside, it's nice to see (well, hear and then see in the box score) the Twins show some power tonight, especially when the Tigers' season is on the line. Almost makes up for missing out on a game thread about body hair and what happened on the kayak.

    Late-season game thread fatigue starting to slow brian down? He actually allowed a post sneak in between a Chicago traffic reference and this.

    Yup. Anyone griping about Pinto behind the plate is pretty much blowing smoke. Fryer has batted a Drew Butesque .214/.276/.314, and since his questionable contract extension Suzuki has batted .256/.291/.383. Defense is a big part of the equation for catchers, but if Pinto can at least get the ball back to to mound he has a chance to add up to at least close match to the alternatives.

    Thanks, sounds good.. And if you feel up to it, ask about TD discounts for decent infield seats. Maybe we can work a deal.

    It's even worse than that. Package deal. If I drop TD my land line gets disconnected, and I miss out on offers for vinyl siding, mail-order bride discounts, and class-action suits involving violas crushed by fellow motorists. So we're stuck with each other. Sorry.

    Lunch money and backpack too. Wedgies shortened the lifespan of his underwear to a WAR (wear-to-attrition ratio) of just under 5 school days per pair.

    Follow-ups to platinum albums are always a challenge. Could have been much worse... like missing out on the 10,000 post bonus one post shy because the sprinklers went off inside the server farm.

    Yeah. Fixed. Before tonight. ERA's that start with something more than a 4 are not so great, but ones that start with an 8 are... Ponsonian. Almost all his peripherals suggest he's on his way to becoming an effective starter.

    His ERA-to-Fip/xFip was awfully close to two to one before tonight. Just rocky out of the gate, and he's hardly the first guy to give up a hydrogen bomb to MiGCab. Really good way for him to end the season.
