Oh, I don't know if it's quite that bad. It was pretty exhilarating to see Buxton strike out swinging at a fastball in the zone instead of a curveball in the dirt for a change.
Twins fans' vision of Lance Lynn crushing the Pirates in his debut: http://i.imgur.com/plFezKp.gif Lance Lynn's first inning as a Twin: http://capricorncity.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Bart-Sells-His-Soul-Dinosaur-Sponge.gif
If player values updated in real time graphs like stocks, I'm guessing that Lynn's 'buy low' valley came right as the luxury box windows shattered when Moran's grand slam passed through the sound barrier.
That was my thought as well. Some guys go there as aging veteran to milk a little more money and/or fun out of the sport, but guys Vargas' age get money, AB's, and a chance to be (re)discovered.
This worries me a little if it's a trend. The latest issue of Kiplingers' specifically criticized outfielder depth insurance as second to only home appliance repair insurance as a bad investment.
"Usable" in center... so is that the scout-speak equivalent of describing a blind date as having a nice personality? Just from what I've read so far he sounds a bit like the store brand version of Kepler. But a good store brand like Kirkland vitamins, not a bad store brand like Krogers' toilet paper. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the Twins won't expect Cave to sustain the .414 BABIP he notched in AAA last year. The .266/.317/.516 line that came with his AA BABIP of .319 seems more representative of his real ability level. And Gil looked like a promising prospect based on the exhaustive 30 seconds of research I did on his scouting reports, so now I need a new low A pitching prospect to project unrealistic expectations onto. Any suggestions?
So, SOOOO disappointed it turned out to be Jake Cave instead of Nick. Couldn't they at least have gotten one of the current or former Bad Seeds, I'm thinking maybe Toby Dammit or Kid Congo Powers for a low A prospect?
Of the Big Four, you sign whoever is most likely to flash the cash around their teammates. It totally blows to not have money when your peers do, so the other three fall like dominoes. Boom. Group discount. You're welcome.
Everyone be sure to stay tuned for ESPN game highlights! Or just go to work on your cranium with every power tool you own. On a more positive note, what an unexpectedly fun and promising season, and thanks again to all the folks who make the game threads so great!
I projected the Twins to get lost and then mugged on the way to the stadium, so I was thrilled when they showed up in the dugout. As always, Game Thread made it fun anyway. Thanks for a great season, everyone!
