Sano needs to be able to hit offspeed pitches in order to reach his talent level. No pitcher in the major league is going to throw a fastball in the zone to him if he cannot handle offspeed stuff.
Well I am sorry, I really think Throlys has a point there. Gibson is a professional baseball player. He should have followed his pre-start game preparation today. He gets paid to make sure he prepares the best for the game.
I really don't see Magill would stay on the roster for another day. He gave up 10 ERs to get 5 outs. Astudillo could do better than that. Why would Twins need him?
Rooker, Duran, Thorpe, Enlow, Gonsalves, Celestino, Littell and Miranda might drop out of top 20 Twins prospects list soon. Sammons, Ober, Balazovic, Hackimer, Smeltzer, Jax, Stashak, Mason, Sands, Schulfer, Lujan & Lewin Diaz are all doing well.
Twins really need to be creative with Gibson. Since he's only going to be effective in 5 innings, he should be the primary pitcher and someone else should be the opener. May might be a good candidate for the opener position.
I believe Duffey is a better option than Hildenberg right now. Duffey is the only logical option for the Twins at this moment. In order to win more games, Hildenberg needs to be sent down since he is not doing his job. He can certainly get plenty of innings in AAA like Romero. Duffey is just a temporary fix. This team still needs to acquire one or two bullpen arms soon in order to keep up with the Indians.
Hildenberg is also a problem in the bullpen right now. I wonder how many games he needs to blow up before getting demoted while guys like Duffey are not getting much of a chance to stay.
Hildenberg is really the difference in these two games against the Tigers. 2 innings 4 runs. I am certain the Tigers figured him out. Hildenberg needs to get more innings in AAA.
This rookie has an ERA of 2.42 this year. I guess he is not an ordinary rookie. I am pinning the loss on the fact that Hildenberg gave up 2 ERs in only one inning. Unfortunately it is the most important inning in the game. Tell me which is worse scoring 2 runs in 5.2 innings against a pretty good rookie or giving up 2 runs in just one inning against a bad lineup. Again no excuse for Hildenberg or the manager who put him in the game.
