  1. Wow. You're a quick grader and a fatalist. Thanks for the pep talk buddy!
  2. ... He brings excitement!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. In the past half year I have been a sometimes vocal opponent of Ben Revere, I now must back River Brian in the fact that Revere is a magic maker, a shaman of baseball. This young man might not have the greatest abilities when it comes to stereotypical baseball performance, but he is magic on the field and seemingly brings it on a day in and day out basis. He will not accrue many assists as an outfielder, he will not hit many extra-base hits at the plate. This kid will play a gold glove outfield without a good arm, he will hit near .300 without any pop, and he will steal a ton of bases. Ben Revere has a magic quality to him, and he will succeed. He is baseball... and a reminder why I love this game.
  4. My comrade Glunn. Fortunately I did not watch most of the game, but I did watch a little and keep tabs on what was happening. You should never lose a game in which your starter strikes out 15 batters... never. It seems that the supporting cast let Frankie down tonight quite a bit. Let us erase this one from our memories.
  5. 6-3 Oaktown. Our 7-9 batters due up. Unless it's a special night - this game is over.
  6. 1. I meant that Parmelee is probably a better LF than Willingham. It would have been nice to see Delmon Play RF for the Twins. (shoulders shrugged) 2. I have as well and I get you. Plouffe seems to be the more spry of the 3. Who knows what will happen - but Plouffe has done a fine job at 3B. 3. I don't want anyone to commit suicide:( xxx ooo Bark
  7. Geez. There is nothing you can say or any statistic you can present to me that convinces me that Delmon is a better OFer than Parmelee. Hell, he is probably a better outfielder than our beloved LFer. As for Trevor Plouffe - his defense at 3B has been average+. I have seen all of them play consistently. On the Matter of Plouffe - you are a plain and simple Anti-Plouffetist. Fess up to it. Go to confession. Burn some incense and dance for Mother Earth. I hope there is some cosmic occurence that connects yours and Ron Gardenhire's brain in which you get to hear all of his thoughts on baseball and life and it continuously streams through your thought process, In this scenario - you hear him, but he never hears you.... HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
  8. You read my mind or vice versa!
  9. In MiLB Parmelee has 342 games played at 1B v. 286 games played in the OF. I see him as a 1B/OF - why don't you? Throw him out there!
  10. I will say it is nice to see that Hicks is picking up the pace at AA, but with another 1-1/2 months of the MiLB season left to play - we need to see how Hicks closes it out. He still has a lot of work to do offensively. My bet is that he is not a September call up. I would Super Triple Hate to see Thomas, Ramirez, or Carson steal AB's away from Parmelee. Parmelee is a part of the Twins future, these other guys are almost with certainty not. Sure, Mastro, Doumit and maybe even Mauer will get a few spot starts out in RF. It would be a damn shame to not see Parmelee get the AB's if the Span trade scenario becomes reality.
  11. If Span is traded (something I am not hoping for). Who will be the Twins starting Right Fielder? Would it be Mastroianni, some bum we acquire in the "Span Trade" like Roger Bernadina, Chris Parmelee or someone else? My preference would be Parmelee. If he plays everyday I believe he can be an offensive asset. It will definitely not be the ideal situation defensively, but what the hey - Benson and Hicks are not ready. It would be nice to see Parmelee play everyday to make a judgement on whether his offensive struggles were caused by a lack of playing time or simply being over matched at the MLB level. Parmelee can play RF and we are in the midst of a washed out season... why not?
  12. That might be a good idea. Veronica's sister Betty is pretty hot.
  13. Liriano pitched a decent game tonight. He was mentally fragile as he usually seems to be, but made it through without incident. It might have made the game 45 minutes longer . (I’m not Bud Selig and game length is of no concern to me.) Liriano is greatly reminding me of Lieutenant Colonel Frank Slade – he needs someone to watch over him at all times. Tonight Drew Butera was Liriano’s Charlie Simms. I am fearful of Liriano’s mental shortcomings. He has great stuff, but seemingly without a trip to the mound every other at bat it seems that he might implode. I would like Liriano to pick up some of Colonel Sade’s traits – hatred, revenge, and bitterness might serve to be Frankie L’s friends. Like Colonel Slade, Liriano is blind, not in the literal sense, but blind to his ability. Maybe a change of attitude can further his career. Drew Butera can continue to be Liriano’s Charlie Simms but this is what needs to happen: Liriano expresses the following: 1. “I’m in the dark here, I’m in the dark here on how to pitch” 2. There is nothing worse than seeing how I amputate my pitching game plan. Slade: “Frankie, how about getting me a bottle of a complete game?” Frankie: “Do you mean 5 or 6 innings?” Slade: “No you dip****, 9 innings – HOOYAA!!!!”

  15. They send Parmelee down. He starts swinging a hot bat. They recall him. He sits on the bench. I look forward to seeing history repeat itself.

  20. Nah. Willingham has been great for us and you pull for him making it, but the OF competition is too strong in the A.L.. Mauer was the correct choice.
  21. God Damn. You young galoots really have a lot of time on your hands. This computer world thiggamajiggy really dominates a lot of your lives. When I was in my 20’s, I was out with my friends and carousing with the lovely young ladies. You young bucks really put too much time into baseball, trying to dig up some weird scientific statistics. In the 50’s you knew who a good ballplayer was – The Splendid Splinter, Stan the Man, Ted Kluszewski, Nellie Fox, Jackie Robinson, Mickey Vernon, the Say Hey Kid, The Duke and the Mick are just a few to mention amongst many more. I was fortunate to travel around a bit and see these players I have mentioned play. You didn’t need a calculator to figure out that these were some damn good baseball players… some of the very best to put on the uniform. I know a lot of you guys have been hard on my grandson and some of it seems a bit over the top, but Joseph can handle it, he was raised to face adversity and he will do a fine job with that. My belief is most of you knuckle heads have too much time on your hands and have your priorities all mixed up. My advice to you computer baseball guys is to get off your computer, toughen up, head down to your favorite watering hole, be talkative and interesting – maybe make some friends. What the hell… you might even meet a lady friend who might turn your world upside down… it happens sometimes… even for you bookworm types. Grandpa Jake

  23. Good comparison. All HOFer's except for Ichiro who is a shoe in when his time comes. FDG opened up a can of worms when he started this thread. The Mauer contract/production talk is old, stale and boring. It seems apparent that he has to have a 2009 season every year for people to pause their mob mentality and quench their thirst for his blood. 25. For no good reason - I am liking the Millers throw-back jerseys. I get the fact that they share the same colors as the NY/SF Giants as they were their top minor league affiliate in the 40's and 50's. But I like the way the white, orange, and black work together. The "M" logo is boring and lacking of creativity. It would be cool to see the twins throw together a new uniform look using these colors even though it would be ripping off the G-Men.
