    Who doesn't love a guy finally making good after years of busting his tail. He's looked legitimately good this spring and honestly it hasn't even been that small of a sample size.

    I'm getting this directly from MLB.com and it definitely seems to be worded to where if the Twins wanted Kinley and didn't want to expose him to waivers, they could go to Miami and make a straight up trade for him. If I'm wrong I'll accept that but I'm swear I'm not just pulling this concept of a straight up deal out of thin air. http://m.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/rule-5-draft There seems to be a definite delineation between sending him down after only paying the initial 50K, and sending him down after providing further compensation to his original team. If this is wrong then the MLB has got bigger problems besides pace of play. Their official website can't even explain the rules properly.

    Not every club will make a selection, but those that do pick a player must pay $100,000 to the club from which said player was selected. Rule 5 Draft picks are assigned directly to the drafting club's 25-man roster and must be placed on outright waivers in order to be removed from the 25-man roster in the subsequent season. Should the player clear waivers, he must be offered back to his previous team for $50,000 and can be outrighted to the Minors only if his original club does not wish to reacquire him. A Rule 5 Draft pick can be placed on the Major League disabled list, but he must be active for a minimum of 90 days to avoid being subject to the aforementioned roster restrictions in the next campaign. Clubs may trade a player selected in the Rule 5 Draft, but the same restrictions apply to the player's new organization. However, a club may also work out a trade with the Rule 5 pick's original club to acquire his full rights, thereby allowing him to be optioned to the Minors under traditional circumstances. If I'm reading this right, we would only have to put him on waivers if we tried to keep him without working out a trade. If we straight up worked a deal with Miami we would be able to send him down at will. Obviously I could be reading this incorrectly.

    I think they'll just trade for him so they can move him down. Let's be honest here, he came from Miami and they're just in it to lose. Toss $100,000 and bucket of gum at them. They'll accept and even send a thank you note for the gum.

    It always seemed to me that while he could handle the fastballs, offspeed and breaking pitches just tied him up in knots. I really had high hopes for him with the Twins and I still believe going after him was a good investment opportunity for the team. I wish him well back in Korea. (I'm still in love with his first big league home run in Kansas City. Absolute moon shot into the 3rd deck in left.)

    If saving over 300 games in a career is "just getting by", then I know a boatload of mediocre pitchers that would love to sign up for that.

    People have been waiting on Dozier to regress for the last 4 years. It hasn't happened yet and I don't see it happening this year as long as he's healthy

    So you're not upset with what he said, you're just upset that he said it? What did you want him to do? Lie?

    Just because Dozier will be hitting free agency doesn't mean he won't resign with the Twins. Don't forget, next offseason is probably the worst possible time for Dozier to be a free agent as it's probably the best class in history. All of the contenders are going to be chasing much bigger names than Brian, while he's not really in any of the rebuilding teams' windows of contention. Just a quick list of some guys who may be available (with their ages next offseason): 1. Bryce Harper (26) 2. Manny Machado (26) 3. Clayton Kershaw (31) 4. Josh Donaldson (33) 5. David Price* (33) 6. Craig Kimbrel (30) 7. Charlie Blackmon (32) 8. Daniel Murphy (34) 9. Elvis Andrus* (29) 10.     You'd actually have a huge argument if you try to claim Jay Bruce is more valuable than Dozier

    Honestly, if this move comes down to keeping either Grossman or Vargas, I have to go with Grossman. A high OBP guy who doesn’t seem to be affected by time between at bats and has at least decent positional flexibility, that’s valuable

    Kind of hard to be a difference maker in a bullpen when you're sitting on the DL, which is where Chargois has basically spent his entire professional career. Wouldn't be surprised if he ends up on the DL again this year.

    What reality has been invented? The only reality that is being discussed is that Sano has come into camp overweight enough that our front office has had to field questions on whether his size will affect his performance. I doubt very much that there is any sort of "weight goal" in writing, however it is not difficult to deduce from their concern that an general outline of where they would like him to be exists and has been discussed with him. If it hasn't, that is negligence on the part of management. If they are viewing it as an issue, why shouldn't we? Also, don't recall seeing a single comment on here calling Miguel obese and lazy. Lamenting that he seems to have such a hard time being disciplined with his fitness, yes. Obese and lazy, no.

    My concern isn't necessarily that he's coming in "overweight". It's been pointed out multiple times that each person has a different ideal weight because of height and body type. My concern is that if he's being given a weight goal going into an offseason of what the team wants him to weigh coming into the spring, and he's missing it, that's a huge problem. He's basically telling his bosses that he doesn't feel the need to do what they ask of him. That shows a lack of discipline and accountability on his part. I get why people are saying, "but he's still good". Great. Awesome. My response is why stop at "good" when with a little discipline he could be "great"?
