It was fun to watch George Scott take infield practice. He would catch throws between his legs, throw tosses to infielders over his back, etc. He really was a slick fielding 1st baseman, and he was a big man.
I wouldn't stress too much about it. We've got current field manager through 2025, possibly. Nothing will change unless Pohlad's bottom line is compromised greatly, IMO.
Managers don't hit or pitch, but they do decide who should be in a particular position. They can assist in putting a player in a position that's best for him to have success or fail. If the manager is adept at this, it ultimately falls on the player/pitcher to execute.
While growing up, I would always get to the Met early to watch batting practice, infield practice, and Frankie Crossetti hitting fungoes to outfielders.
