    If he hits well, the Twins could make him a qualifying offer sufficient to receive a draft pick if he turns them down and signs with another team. He could have a hard time finding a team willing to make him a multi-year offer given his history of injuries and lose a draft pick in the process. That could be a scenario where he takes the Twins one year offer.

    Herbek actually jumped from A ball to the majors as did Eisenreich, which is pretty amazing. Gaetti jumped from AA. Viola was drafted in 1981 and made his major league debut within a year. Laudner was draft in 1979 and made his major league debut two years later. The Griffith regime had a little different philosophy about promoting prospects through the system.

    Definitely #1 on the list of anybody who followed the '84 team. The most annoying part was when he would explain that he didn't pitch that poorly after blowing another save opportunity. He probably cost the team the division title that year. I read somewhere that Davis would constantly sing "Jimmy Crack Corn," even on the way to pitcher's mound and in the locker room after blowing another save. When the players found out that Davis had been traded to the Cubs, Kirby Puckett led the team in a rendition of "Jimmy Crack Corn."

    Craig wore #2 for the Twins in the late '60s. They traded him to Cleveland in one of worst trades in Twins history.

    Can't say I ever saw him play but the fact that Bernie Allen was also a Big Ten quarterback is pretty cool. After Purdue beat Ohio State one year he went after Woody Hayes to see if he still thought Allen too small to play in the Big Ten. No punches thrown though.
