  1. Noooooo. Thorpe might be a good loogy down the stretch but Stewart doesn't have even half the swing-and-miss stuff the Twins need from a late inning guy.
  2. This ump is calling horrible outside pitches tonight.
  3. Have to do it. It's game one of a three game set and the Twins don't have an off day for a week. And it's not as if Rochester is exactly bursting at the seams with better options should he fail.
  4. Thorpe is kinda pumped there, deservedly so. Putting that kid out there tonight is a big ask.
  5. Also, sorry about your dog. Because Wes is a player's coach.
  6. I don't like Schoop. He bugs the hell out of me. But he was literally a foot from blowing the game wide open. That's probably not the plate appearance to slam the guy.
  7. And getting drafted to fight for the Commonwealth in the Great War.
  8. Ditto. He was my dark horse pick back in the day before Tommy John, mononucleosis, his dog dying, and that bad case of the clap took him out of play for 6+ seasons.
  9. Exactly what I was thinking when I typed that post.
  10. I don't think Baldelli will let Thorpe pitch the eighth in a close game against the Yankees on the day after he was recalled (nor should he).
  11. Question about Thorpe: if you're Baldelli, do you try to keep him as a three inning reliever or do you aggressively try to turn him into a 1-2 inning guy used more frequently? He has always been a starter so making that kind of adjustment quickly is a big ask but given the state of the bullpen, I think I try to do it.
  12. He kinda has to unless Baldelli is confident in getting 2+ innings from Thorpe.
  13. But that's one of the issues of trying to beat a quick runner to first. I'd have to watch again but Polanco's throw didn't look very good, either.
  14. Got him out by letting him drill a ball in the dirt to left field. Easy-peasy.
  15. You know your faith in the bullpen is minimal when you see a rookie warming up fresh off a promotion and think "oh, good, at least it's not _______".
  16. Huh. I've watched a bunch of his starts, guess I never noticed.
  17. Awesome. We get the bullpen after a 4+ IP start by Perez.
