    Jorge Castillo of ESPN has written that both New York teams are interested in acquiring Twins outfielder Harrison Bader, who has emerged as one of the most sought-after position players this deadline. In 93 games for the Twins, the 31-year-old right-hander is batting .254/.337/.439 with 12 homers and a .776 OPS. FanGraphs has him at a .340 weighted on-base average and a 118 wRC+, while his 2.0 wins above replacement rank among the top 30 major-league outfielders. Statcast credits Bader with +5 Outs Above Average, underscoring the defense that has defined his career. He has logged innings in left, center, and right this season. The Yankees are monitoring Bader closely as they seek a right-handed bat to stabilize their outfield after placing Aaron Judge on the injured list with a flexor strain on July 27. Manager Aaron Boone has patched together playing time for Trent Grisham and Oswaldo Cabrera. Still, the club lacks a true center fielder. Across town, Mets president David Stearns is evaluating upgrades in the same spot.     I think there's decreasing returns with control over 1.5 years. If the Twins trade either reliever, I think they'll get some really nice pieces. I don't think it will be two top 100 guys, with one of them in the top 50.

    That's the Twins asking price, I don't think it's the general consensus. I think asking for two top-100 prospects for any reliever is not going to get any bites. Well, maybe you can get two 80+ guys, but not the top half of the top 100.

    As I mentioned on the TD live stream a few days ago, the Twins are really interesting sellers. Their controllable pieces are top-shelf, and even their rentals can fit on pretty much any team. What team doesn't need a switch-hitting tenth man in Castro? What team doesn't need a legitimate center fielder, who can play elite corner outfield, all while hitting, in Bader? What team doesn't need a legit shut down lefty out of the pen in Coulombe? What team doesn't... um... need a guy nicknamed "The Sheriff"? Sure, we'll go with that.

    I agree that this deal is trying to feel fair while not giving up Roman Anthony or Marcelo Mayer. Which isn't going to work. I understand putting Anthony off-limits, but Mayer needs to be in this deal to get it off the ground.

    A little different format for the question of the week. Within reason, who is your #1 trade target in the next six days? The guy who, if acquired, would make you give the Twins a B or higher grade at the trade deadline if that's all they did at the deadline. This could be a prospect, a young major leaguer, just the guy you want the most, and is reasonably considered to be available on the market. I've kind of sold myself on Moises Ballesteros.

    The retooled playoff format means that basically nothing will ever happen until July 25th. Which is why I said a few weeks ago that essentially boiled down to "what I think right now doesn't matter, as no decision should or will be made until the end of July". Can't be late to the party if the party doesn't start until July 30th.
