Twins Video
James Richard Beresford was born on January 19, 1989 in Australia.
The Minnesota Twins signed him as an international free agent in 2007. He reached Triple-A in 2013, and was an International League All-Star in 2015. Beresford was promoted to the Twins as a September call-up in 2016 at the age of 27.
He played ten games for the Twins that month, going 5-for-22 (.227) with one walk and one sacrifice bunt in 24 plate appearances. Beresford did not score or drive in any runs. He started games at both corner infield spots, and played one inning at second base. Minnesota removed him from the 40-man roster during the off-season. His professional career ended a year later after playing professionally in his home country of Australia.

Dozier, Others Excited For James Beresford
Following their loss on Monday afternoon, the Minnesota Twins announced that they were promoting three more September call-ups. Earlier Byron Buxton, John Ryan Murphy and Jose Berrios had been called up, but on Monday, the Twins announced that Kennys Vargas, Tyler Duffey and James Beresford would be called up on Monday. On Tuesday, the Twins made it official, stating also that Danny Santana was placed on the 60 day disabled list.
The moves of Vargas and Duffey were expected. However, while several of us have wanted Beresford to get promoted in previous Septembers, there was some surprise when James Beresford’s name was mentioned as a call up.
That moved created a lot of excitement around Twitter and in the real world too.

In His Words: Tanner English's 2016 Season
Twins minor league outfielder Tanner English has always been a star on the baseball field. Like many in professional baseball, he was a great high school player. Following his career at St. James High School in Murrell Island, South Carolina, he was drafted in the 13th round by the Tampa Bay Rays. After a lot of deep thought and long nights, English decided to stay in-state and attend the University of South Carolina. Following three seasons there, the Twins used their 11th-round pick to take the speedy center fielder.
