Things to Think about:

1. Think about Escobar... Both Shortstops today have the last name Escobar and both are batting ninth. No real point to make... Just Think about it... Would You!!!

2. Think about Chris Archer... Archer was a former Cubs Prospect that the Rays acquired with a handful of others in the deal of Garza... We got Delmon Young in our deal for Garza. I didn't like that trade personally.

3. Think about Joe Maddon... Everybody loves Joe... Creative manager who puts out multiple lineups with players playing different positions every night. He's got good pitching so he wins... Or is that creativity?

4. Think about Ron Gardenhire... Just 5 wins from 1,000... Take that JOE!!!

5. Think about Research... I've requested a research grant to discover if research causes cancer in Rats. I'm just gonna research them and see what happens.

6. Think about lawn mowers, again, and how they can frustrate you. Now multiply that level of frustration by about 100 and you've got a Twins game.

7. Think about stress-induced heart attacks. See #6.

I guess we can call the area between 3rd and 2nd the Esco-barrio tonight.

No need to respond, I've given myself a 30 minute ban for that one.

8. Think about Joe actually winning games in the playoffs and taking the Rays to the World Series, take that Gardy!

1. Think about Escobar...

At the beginning of the year I thought I read that Escobar had a better defensive rep than Florimon. Any idea why the job was basically handed to Florimon? Is Florimon really that much better defensively?

Suggestion for Glunn - don't post the analytical thread until after this one is poster

Yes, my mistake. If only I did not have that darn day job my timing would be better.

Florimon was a starting AAA IL All Star last year at SS and was voted "Best Infield Arm" in the IL, as well. But you're right, he's probably only a marginally better glove than Escobar, maybe a little more range along with a better arm.

Does anyone think that Gardenhire is going to get his 5 wins yet this year?

We have a series upcoming with Chicago ... that might help.

All right, so the Hunt for .500 fell through.

So how about a new Hunt for..........70 wins??

I was thinking this year they'd get 65-70 anyway

So how about a new hunt for the 3rd pick??

I'm okay with that. That's worth the ribbon for just participating.

I'm sort of torn about this series with the Rays. I mean, of course I don't want to lose ... I never want to lose ... but I'd rather see the Rays in over the Yankees; maybe even over the Rangers.

I've got a date with a poker table tonight. Have fun all.

The serious answer, to me, is that it should be done before the last series and the Twins will win a couple against the Tribe if they are eliminated before that last series.

Hmm ... should ... but with this team? I'm not even sure about shoulds at this point. But I think hitting 1000 is a good departure point for Gardy.

I can feel my waistline expanding just looking at the picture. (I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that I'm sitting on my butt in front of the computer again.)

Florimon-Escobar: I think Pedro has the edge in both range and arm. Escobar is pretty sure handed, but I don't think he has superior range or speed

I guess I jinxed him.

I always thought that Escobar projected as the utility guy and Florimon was the better SS.

Ya gotta love it, "If you strip out all the strikeouts the Twins are batting over .300"

LOL

Of course if you strip out all the opponents strikeouts they're hitting over .400.

:D
