big dog Verified Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 2013 is a season to find out some things and to let some guys develop even if there are some scuffmarks along the way, so I don't think Gardy ought to manage this game like it's the 7th game of the World Series. True- I can see why Gardy put him out there for another inning. It just didn't work out very well. I hope it helps his long-term development, because he sure needs some.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Yeah, a very Pelfry-esque performance today. Hey! No cause for throwing profanity around.
big dog Verified Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 If Gibson had gotten through the sixth unscathed, I think his ERA might have dropped below 6. Baby steps...

IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Bases loaded with one out - this has heartbreak written all over it.
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Bases loaded with one out - this has heartbreak written all over it. YES! The reverse jinx works.
James Verified Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Bases loaded with one out - this has heartbreak written all over it.How is that egg on your face?
big dog Verified Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 RISP!!! I really like Mauer 4-hit games. Big inning- let's keep it going.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 YES! The reverse jinx works. Only a single. For my $23M I expect a home run every time.
big dog Verified Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 So he needs help? or development? or both? His development needs help. Was that unclear? Sorry.
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Only a single. For my $23M I expect a home run every time. This is the new Twins - small ball back in fashion.
big dog Verified Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 For my $23M ... Why on earth would a Pohlad be allowed to moderate this site! I call for a Citizen's Ban of this poster.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Francona would have brought Albers in to face Mauer, but he was still working on his 5th cheeseburger.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Burton seems to have put behind him whatever was bothering him earlier this summer. All these guys have nagging physical conditions at one time or another.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 So Mauer is one RBI away from having the Twins lead off and #2 batters being 2nd and 3rd for team RBI. Um, quite an accomplishment?
big dog Verified Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 I hope the Twins sign a reasonably big-name free agent next year, and I hope he works out better than Nick Swisher has. Yikes. He seems like a decent guy and I bet his poor performance this year is eating at him.

All these guys have nagging physical conditions at one time or another. He's really been on a roll. Or, as Gardy would say, "the ball is really coming out his hand."
big dog Verified Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 He's really been on a roll. Or, as Gardy would say, "the ball is really coming out his hand." He's battling, and most definitely getting after it.
James Verified Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Is that 7 runs in one game without a homerun?
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Or, as Gardy would say, "the ball is really coming out his hand." Doubtless one of the keys to his success. Maybe he can teach it to PJ Walters or something.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 So Burton pitched the 7th......why?
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 The silver lining of the terrible season. Blowing a 4 run lead in the 8th rates about the same on the reaction meter as when the guy in front of you changes lanes without his blinker.

ashbury Verified Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Doubtless one of the keys to his success. Maybe he can teach it to Casey Fein or something. ftfm
stringer bell Verified Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Nice inning Perk. Now a Plouffe walkoff!!??
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Perk pitches the 9th? Might as well play to win it in the bottom of the 9th, it's about their best shot, doesn't matter much.
