Louie Varland pitched great in his debut for the Minnesota Twins, striking out five Yankee batters over 5 1/3 innings pitched. He gave up a pair of runs on three hits with one walk. Down on the farm, both Michael Helman and Mark Contreras had big games in support of Ronny Henriquez, who struck out nine batters while giving up a pair of runs in five innings.
