Wow, Gant got 60 pitches. That's as many as Jax or Ober got when they first came up. I wonder if they're going to give him a run of starts to see if he can be a starter? I understand that's what he wants. Given the rotation now is Maeda, Ober, Jax and ???, why not give him a chance? Especially with everyone else either hurt/recovering (Winder, Duran), really new (Strotman, Ryan), or old/not very good (Burrows, Albers, Shepard). Sure, he wasn't good in the 3rd but he hasn't pitched a lot of 3+ inning stints lately. We are into development and evaluation. Might as well evaluate whether he can be a starter. I would give him another start. I'd love ot find him an easier opponent although that's going to be hard given the schedule the next couple of weeks.

He's very likely not a starter. He can want it all he wants. He can be a good RP...

I don't think they want him as a starter, but after last night's game, had to give innings to someone

Could have won this game with an actual starter. Why does maeda get 6 days rest?

I dunno why, but I do know 2021 Maeda was certainly capable of losing this game.

Maeda has come out of at least a few starts looking completely gassed to me. My guess? his early season struggles wore him down mentally and he's a bit out of shape?

An extra day of rest could help with that.

Since a week-long rest at the All Star break, Maeda has had 4 days, 4 days, 6 days, 4 days, 5 days, and now 6 more days rest leading up to Saturday's start.

Certainly. But I’d feel better (as good as you can feel) losing while at least using a starter. Gant, coulombe, and Albers (though he did well)....I don’t like my chances

Yeah I don’t know. 4 days rest is good enough for the majority of SP’s. If he’s hurt or something then he might as well be shut down. Otherwise I’d love to see him step up. Unless it was a travel issue or something that prevented him from starting after yesterday’s Thorpe issue. I HATE bullpen games, whoever does them.

Sorry ... left for a bit ... whichever you want ... just let me know which ... thanks! :)

Saturday you get a day off. Spend it wisely!

Hate to lose anytime, but hate to lose the most against the Yankees. Twins have handled 4 real good teams, but they just can't go toe to toe with NY. They made a game of it but 6-0 deficit too big. Yanks have the best record in MLB in games decided by 1 or 2 runs.
