Jim Kaat referring to "the old-fashioned wind-up". But one of the keys to the revival of his career in the mid-'70's was adopting a no-wind-up delivery.

Kaat’s career was further extended by becoming one of the first middle relievers in MLB history. Before Kaat, most teams went straight from their starter to their closer with a lead, even as early as the 7th inning, who would then finish the game. But Sutter really couldn’t do that, so the Cardinals needed a bridge. Enter Jim Kaat.

I can’t stand Benintendi, I have no rational reason for it, I just can’t stand him

'Cause we coulda/woulda/shoulda picked him?

OK, only 5 pitches that inning. I guess that's acceptable.

But I bet he won't keep the progression going by getting through the third in 2.5.

Red Sox announcers going on and on and on, about how slow Cron was in getting down on the line on the wild third strike.

BTW, this is the epitome of pitch-to-contact. I'm not advocating for or against that philosophy but if you can get 3 outs on 5 pitches every inning you'll win a unanimous Cy Young.

That isn't guaranteed because you can't account for the two pitches each inning that don't result in outs. If they end up being home runs, he will be traded to Baltimore.

No self respecting Twins fans would live in Massachusetts.

Lack of self-respect leads to bizarre behavior, like moderating web sites.

That's only because Cron's foot speed is a low bar to clear.

He had that injured thumb. I expect he's not back to fully 100%.

You're keeping a dossier? Good thing I haven't mentioned my secret family in Billerica.
