SS defense in the system

What might be the ranking of defensive SS ability from the Twins down to DSL?

I was thinking something like:

1. Escobar

2. Florimon

3. Polanco

4. . . .

Maybe instead of ranking, placing them in tiers would be fine. It would be nice to get a sense of who is good-great defensively, who is adequate (Carroll), who is not adequate, and who needs to move elsewhere.

From what I saw of him with Beloit a couple years ago and in Spring Training since then, James Beresford (New Britain) would rank right up at/near the top of defensive shortstops in the Twins organization.

How does Goodrum rank?

Has anyone on this board come close to seeing enough guys in the system enough times (and this year) to have any idea on this question?

I would support Jim's comment on James Beresford, only 10 errors so far and many of those are throwing due to attempts to get outs when batters have been 'scored' safe hits to his position

Yeah, Beresford would be in that top tier. He has split between SS and 2B almost evenly this year. New Britain with Beresford and Santana up the middle should be pretty impressive in 2013.

Goodrum is a key question here. I would really like some more input here.

As someone how has seen him play Beresford gets some love from me too. Levi jumped low A so I never saw him, but in the years I have watched the Twins minor leaguers play down here Beresford is the best shortstop I have seen. With the glove. His bat...well that is a work in progress shall we say.
