I agree, but I also think there would be a big emotional boost in the clubhouse to win this game, so I don't think they'll gamble too much. You want to go into the all-star break on a high, and what could be better than winning a series against the best team in the AL, in their park, and having a 4-3 road trip.

Having Fien pitch the 8th doesn't seem to go with that theory.

If he had shone signs of being tired the last inning, then absolutely I would pull him. But in this case, I'm surprised he didn't go back out.

He threw only 84 pitches through the 7th. I am amazed that he did not go back out for at least a batter ir two. Maybe he told the coaches that he is tired/injured.

I would have sent DeVries out, with the understanding that the moment a runner got in scoring position, he was done.

Way to go, Casey. Through 'em a little chin music. Get the Texas bench all fired up.

That was his debut. Hopefully they understand that.

With all due respect for Joe Nathan, I hope that the Twins blow him off the mound.

So if the error is on the pitcher, is it an earned run?

According to the CBS site, it is an earned run.

Either way, the choice of Fien to relieve DeVries seems more about getting the guy into a game, any game, moreso than trying to enter the All-Star Break on a winning note.

Well, here comes Perkins. Personally, I would have preferred Burton. He's been more reliable this year - Perkins has had a tendency this year to make things exciting, kinda like Capps.

Well let's not talk crazy, he isn't Capps like, in anyway.

Both runs should be unearned, it doesn't matter if the pitcher is the one who committed the error.

Dozier should have been the first out, Carroll struck out for out number 2 and Span flew out. No runs should have scored.

ESPN has them both as unearned FWIW
