Squirrel Community Moderator Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Nolasco v Karns. Lineups when I get to a computer and not my phone.

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 2-0 on 3 2 out hits in the top of the second. I caught, um, i mean, i saw the last bein' a double just beyond a diving center fielder.
big dog Verified Member Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Really good 1-2 curve ball there by Nolasco, strike 3. Man I hope he can "regress" back to his career averages this year.
Thegrin Verified Member Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Rosario didn't slide !!! too Lazy ???
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Vargas/Rosario get struck/thrown out in an inning ending double play. Something was amiss, as Rosario didn't slide... Is this a growing pain?
nater79a Verified Member Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Arcia needs to make that catch! Our OF defense is deeply concerning.
nater79a Verified Member Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Nolasco breaking ball looks very good. Good pop on the fastball too.
big dog Verified Member Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 And DeJesus hits a "double", which was basically a medium fly ball that Arcia jogged toward. Apparently the wind carried it and the ball ended up bouncing on the warning track. That looked like a t-ball outfield play.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Pop up, then double play leave the bases loaded. But we still have a 1 run lead.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 No longer a 1 run lead. Their center fielder hit a two run dinger. Oh well.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 The End (er a little late. I'm afraid i napped, and missed Meyer walking for and King 3. And Pinto gunning down a runner!) Don't miss the next exciting spring training installment: A Half o' Pittsburgh ventureth into Hammond Stadium. Well, i suppose you can miss it. Just remembered NCAA Basketball is happening, and everyone still has hope. Good times!
VandyTwinsFan Verified Member Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Just went back and watched Meyer pitch again after not really paying attention the first time. Holy struggles with fastball command, batman! At least he was able to throw the curve over, which got him out of the second inning. He got bailed out of his first inning bases loaded with one out jam by a guy swinging at ball four in a full count. For a guy trying to win the 5th starter job, it was pretty disappointing. I guess he did only give up one run on one hit over two innings...
curt1965 Verified Member Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I know it's early, but I was disappointed in the Twins play today. As was mentioned above:1.) Rosario not sliding on the steal to second. Looks to me that he pulled a Hicks-maybe thought Vargas strikeout was 3rd out??)2.) Flyball that Arcia dogged or was fooled that turned into a double. He's one of my favorites, but that's unacceptable!3.) 15 hopper that went up the middle, either fooling Santana and Bernier, or another lack of effort. Might have been a DP, but if one of those guys at least knock it down, it keeps the DP in order.4.) Lack of strikes from Meyer. Disappointing! I was hoping he'd be the 5th starter, but it looks like he needs more seasoning. Interesting to see what Seth thinks.5.) Bases loaded- no out= 0 runs. Need to do better in that situation.I realize that it's around the half-way point in the exhibition games, and only 3 or 4 starters played, but I guess my standards are high. Results don't really matter now, but effort does!
shs_59 Provisional Member Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 whats the chance Vargas makes the club now? 10% 25 % ? He's at least a 75% to Rochester for me. my opening day roster: CF Aaron Hicks (vs lefties and some righties) {Schaeffer vs most righties)2B Brian Dozier3B Trevor PlouffeLF Oswaldo ArciaRF Torii Hunter1B Joe MauerDH Eduardo EscobarC Kurt SuzukiSS Danny Santana Bench: UTL - Chris HerrmannOF - SchaefferNA - NunezC - Pinto Staff: HughesSantanaGibsonNolascoPelfrey 'Pen:CL - PerkinsSU - FienSU - DuensingRP - TonkinRP - StaufferRP - Meyer (maaaaybe Thielbar) - i think he should be in aaa.LR - Millone
shs_59 Provisional Member Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 In regards to Meyer, Niel Allen and Co. are tinkering with him too much, if you ask me,... Just put him in the 'pen and end it already. Let him within the next 2 seasons pitch his way into the rotation (it only takes a week or 2 to stretch a guy out from the Bullpen) Also Eduardo Nunez might get cut, Caleb Thielbar might as well, JR Graham should get sent packing back to atlanta......and Kennys Vargas would be lucky to begin the year in Rochester let alone New Britain.Danny Santana will be the leadoff man, but i think its risky , very risky.Trevor May please do something good, so we have someone to talk about.

shs_59 Provisional Member Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Kennys has had a good spring at bat. What do you see wrong with him? He's in for a brutal month of April at the big league level, he hacks and hacks and hacks some more, is out of shape (really a shame) And doesn't provide any defensive value (power is a rare commodity) and I'm looking forward to "future power" contributions from Kennys But send him to AAA is the way to go , obviously.
