Dorsey: Ryan on Miracle Players (Walker, Vargas and More)

David Dorsey from the News Press in Ft. Myers was able to chat with Twins GM Terry Ryan recently about several players. He touched on Adam Walker, Zach Jones, Kennys Vargas, Danny Santana and more.

 

After speaking to Walker's power and good season, here's a quote from Ryan on why Adam Walker didn't get promoted to AA New Britain:

 

 

 

"Just because you do it for a half doesn't meant that it's a total success. There are a lot of players that we will keep in a league for a whole year because we feel they need that. Some, like Jorge Polanco, will move up, because we felt like he was pretty much just dominating this league, so we moved him.

"There are some things in Walker's approach that we wanted to make sure he's going to swing at strikes. That's one of the things that we're worried about with a guy with this type of power if all they're worried about is home runs. Well, we're worried about taking good at-bats. That's the type of progression that we're looking for in a hitter."

 

I also enjoyed Ryan's comment on Kennys Vargas's charisma.
