I thought it was going to compare the teams to MLB teams:

Germany = NY Yankees. Win a lot. Arrogant. Hate them.

US = KC Royals. Lots of prospects. Always rebuilding. Never get there.

We would be short a few MLB teams, so...

Columbia = St. Paul Saints. Can't compete with the big boys, but always a lot of fun.

That's just a quick start off the top of my head. I don't know enough about soccer to finish the list (and there might be a better match than Columbia for the Saints.)

Sorry gil 4, comparing with all the teams was a thought, but I couldn't figure out how to wrangle it with 32 teams (plus I felt bad trying to think of a Twins parallel)...good-ish defense, inconsistent offense, and the top athletes (pitchers) are middling at best...I think we might be Russia...
